Established CG, but looks like it’s not maintained. No worries-great spot to stay for the night, tiny creek to put your toes in. Discover Pass area. No one else back on the lower creek section when we were here. 4-5 tent campers above the road. 2 bars Verizon-enough to upload this. Put toilets, no paper.

Report Check-In

Clean bathroom, only a couple others here, lots of firewood to harvest from cut trees, and tons of space to spread out. Despite full bars of Verizon, data on Visible is basically unusable.

Report Check-In

Wonderful spot w/ clean pit toilet, approx. a dozen sites with rock fire pits. A much larger open area across from the entrance to the campground for trailers etc… I’m assuming this area is used to trailer horses and snowmobiles. Road in was smooth as gravel goes. View of the Cascades from the open space which is were I parked for solar. Maintained by the WA Dept. of Fish and Wildlife. Close to the state park and the town of Winthrop. Would definitely stay here again. 3-4 bars LTR Verizon.

Lots of spaces! It’s hunting season apparently because it’s packed with others. Plenty of room though.

Back open now! Stayed for 2 nights and had to place basically to ourselves. Plenty of sites to choose from, no one bothered us for fish and wildlife permits. A bit of a bumpy dirt road to get up there but otherwise fine.

one of the better spots ive found. i stayed at a tucked away spot on the spur just past this marker on the right back by the stream. check out a few spots to find one that suits you. stayed 3 nights no other people minus a few hunters come through. quiet, piney woods, great gravel bike riding nearby. shower and dump at state park, close to town. what else can ya ask for! big rig friendly, 2 bars of Verizon, shade.
~leave it cleaner than you found it~

sign that reads campground closed posted on the bulletin board :( assuming this is temporary?

Perfect camping spot in the woods with great views of the mountain pass. Even in peak season I can’t imagine this place ever filling up, there are so many sites to choose from. Up a dirt/gravel road about 15 mins from downtown Winthrop. There is a big gravel clearing that looks to be for horse trailers so if you have a bigger rig this is the place to park it, also saw some smaller campers here too. Then there is the first loop that has great views of the mountains. Continue back to the second loop in the woods and you can camp alongside the creek. So beautiful and barely anybody here, only the sounds of nature. Excellent cell service for AT&T, pit toilets, and fire rings. It says a discover pass is needed but somebody told me it’s a waste as nobody comes to check. Camped here 2 nights for free with no disturbances. Also felt very safe.

Numerous free sites as stated. Nobody else here on Summer Solstice 2021 even though town is packed with people. Easy access with 2WD. Trees and shade abound.

Seriously the most beautiful spot! Pictures say it all.

Very nice camping with only Discovery Pass requirement, no other fee. Excellent cell reception, will stay again when be back to the area.

It's beautiful here. Surrounded by wildflowers and Ponderosa pines and snow capped mountains in the distance. The only sounds we hear of the nearby river and songbirds. Lots of room for any size rig. We're getting solar! Cell signal is excellent.
