Description

This place was recommended to us by a local safari guide. He said that this location was our best and safest option to wild camp around the area as there is a lot of poaching and military activity going on in the Kasuma forest.

We camped here for two nights and had an amazing time!! Nothing but wild animals and the bush. Not a single person came by. We made a big fire and felt very safe. Lots of firewood around.

Beautiful setting. A Waterhole off the beaten track in the bush! If coming from Kasane, at some point you will come to a fence/cattle grid. Just before the fence, you will see a track on your right (pretty much follows the fence line). Follow this for about 6km and then you will see another track on your right (If you arrive at the bend of the fence line, you have driven too far). Follow the track and it will eventually lead you to this waterhole.

On our first evening, we had a herd of 50 elephants come drink around 5.30pm and another 10 arrived at 7pm. We also saw Zebra and Giraffe. And we heard lions too!

One of our favourite wild camps :) even if you don’t camp here, it’s totally worth a visit, especially late afternoon.

Latest Check-Ins

Camped here for one night, we arrived about midday and came across a group of guys in a hunting crew who had shot themselves a goose. I think it scared all the game away because that night we heard one hyena and didn't see any animals come to the waterhole for a drink. Would stay again, noone else came by in the afternoon and it was peaceful. saw some elephants on the drive out the next morning.

There was no water at this time, but a quiet nice spot. Easy to find if you read previous comments. No one around

This is what they call a hidden gem! We had an unbelievable night at this waterhole. From 16.00h we had an unbelievable amount of elephants and zebras around and in the late night we saw hyenas and lions walking around. Awesome spot, thank you for adding!

Big waterhole with a good amount of water also at the end of dry season. At least 70 Elephants came in the evening. Very remote and quiet. Access: 5.5 km along the fence on a good track, then 4,5 km on a narrow winding track through the forest. Ok with our 3.25 high and 2.20 wide truck. No 4 WD necessary. No Orange signal.
