Something not right?

Description

Campground established by Maine's Forest Service. Has 6 very spacious places. Not all completely level, but on each is a good spot to place your tent or vehicle. All have picknick tables and fire rings. One has a small "cabin". There is a pit toilet which is clean and no bad smells. No 4x4 needed. There are more campgrounds in the area, along the river. You can recognise them by blue signs along the road (don't remember what that say exactly).

Latest Check-Ins

Be sure to check out the Machias River Corridor across the road for plenty more campsites. Open year round but road isn’t plowed.

Beautiful spot! We couldn't *quite* make it work in our 40' bus, though. Just a little too tight to maneuver. But we certainly tried. Probably could have made it work with a lot of time and patience. So maybe not big rig friendly.

And the mosquitos were vicious, as others have pointed out!

Stayed here overnight with only one other camper. Small free campground with 4-5 sites by the river. Clean pit toilet.

The mosquitoes.... there were two other campers there all inside their rigs. ended up leaving the site as bug spray and netting seemed to do little for those thirsty fellas.

Off grid, on the river as advertised. Multiple spots to camp. Pit toilets. Away from everything. Truly beautiful. We didnt stay as it is uncontrolled and some people were taking permanent residence. If I didnt have my kids I would have stayed.

as described, lovely setting, pit toilets, river. pack it in and pack it out. there is a map with details about the river corridor that marks the other camp areas.

Beautiful site with two picnic tables, a lean to, and a fire pit. Four or five similar campsites, with same set up (although I think only ours had a lean to). Just us and one other van, peaceful place for the night. Right next to the river, beautiful setting. Decent pit toilet.

Great free place to stay right along the river with firepits and picnics tables. 6 spots but only two that are realtively flat. The one negative, we had several people pull in to use the toilet throughout the night, possibly due to being right off route 9. One did not even bother to lower their music though it was 2am. Other than that, great place.

Clean and nice sites. One with the cabin has best location and river access. Tons of moquitoes, unfortunately.

Great spot right off Rte 9
Able to park our 25’ class C without need to level on site with leanto
Gorgeous river location with very hungry mosquitoes! Fire pits on site

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot on the river. Tables, fire pits, toilets, and a covered platform for those in tents.
