Kenya
Excellent location inside park. Grassy then rocky track into site. Still $30pppn and $20 for kids. You’re likely to have this one to yourself in rainy seasons. Pit toilets now available.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Good place with great view in the middle of the bush. Don't expect any infrastructure, but natural wildlife. We spend a quiet night in our rooftop tent. As we had no firewood with us we went to bed after sunset, which was good as there was a gentle Hyena coming to the camp right after. You have great views for sunset and sunrise. Before coming here, you can drive by at Mara Bridge and enjoy the ablutions there, so you don't have to battle with the pit toilets here. From here to Mara Bridge is approx 40min drive, from there to Sekanani gate 1h30min with some game viewing.
Report Check-InBeautiful location with extensive views. Wild, only long drops and no caretakers, just an open piece of ground. Hippos through the camp at night and heard hyenas, lions, elephants. Be careful where you camp though as there are lots of ants nests, don’t sting but bites are an annoyance. Only one other couple there who arrived late.
In all suited me perfectly, wonderful solitude.
Agree with report of Aug 11. Elefants and hyena passing at night. A really good wilderness camp.
Report Check-InWe stayed there for one night. View was amazing and we were there by ourselves. Only pit toilets and some fire places. But have to bring your own wood. We camped there with rooftop tents. Was perfectly fine. But also very adventurous camping there alone with all the animals around
Report Check-InPit toilets are now available with a water bucket for "flushing". Still no tap water and no showers. Beautiful spot. Hyenas come to visit and lions roaring the whole night. Great Airtel and Safaricom internet signal.
Report Check-InGreat view, had itvtoo ourselves, zero infrastructure, basic building is a ornament. Had hyenay's and gazelle come through at night after our fire died down. Lots of firepits but zero wood some nice people had left some for use scattered around.
On balance the 50 usd was worth the night sky and morning view.
Also we came into the park at Sekanani gate, got a free 2hrs transit pass to get to the Mara bridge, then at mara bridge we paid for 24hrs in the park plus camping, so we got 26 hours in the park, we saw a lot in that time.. All the big 5 👍
Now has two squat toilets and a shower enclosure (BYO water). The grass at this camp had been trimmed at least sort of recently and the track to camp was being used, much more than when we stayed in 2018
Report Check-InSpectacular view of the escarpment, open, not sheltered. Drop toilets, no water, no firewood. Not maintained. Bring everything.
Report Check-InAmazing! Nice view over the park!
No toilet facilities but 10 min drive to the next campsite for a drop toilet.
Report Check-InAs already said elsewhere, no facility, but a relatively flat grassy place on a hill ridge with a beautiful view of the Westrim and down into the grasslands of the Masai Mara. The wet driveway through the grass was leveled with red earth / sand, so the driveway is no longer a problem.
Report Check-InStill the same, no facilities. Bring own firewood and water, although you can get water from the nearby Serena lodge if you need more - ask at their friendly security.
Report Check-InOn top of hill, excellent view to Mara River and escarpment to the west. 30 USD PP + entrance fee, mobile internet
