Latest Check-Ins

Large field with lots of places. Very muddy in rainy/snowy conditions. Seems to dry up pretty quickly. We were perfectly fine with our 2WD van.

Report Check-In

Lovely spot. There was a giant camp set up (hunting maybe?) in the actual spot. We found a spot about 300 yards away closer to the highway where you first get off. Little louder over here - near the juniper trees there was some nice flat spots.
Would not try this in rain/snow. Deeply rutted, very muddy road. Good enough for our Subaru on a dry night.

Report Check-In

Quiet. Lots of older evidence of elk. Coyotes nightly. Definitely do not come if there has been a lot of rain or snow.

Beautiful and secluded spot! Easy to get to with 2WD just go slow in some areas. Some traffic noise but not bad at all. Verizon reception is OK (1-2 bars). We saw a herd of elk in the morning and heard a pack of coyotes at night. There was bear scat around but we didn't see any bears. Cows came by us too!

Report Check-In

It is absolutely OK to camp here per the forest service ranger. Super dusty. Not many sites, but real pretty. it's like a meadow with a pond. Verizon works great.

As everyone else has said, really lovely place! We spent one night on our way from Payson to Sedona, it’s perfect halfway point to camp. At the end of September after a very wet monsoon, the road is a bit washed out but nothing our CR-V couldn’t handle, but the tanks are full and there are sunflowers everywhere! Very private, seems to be an OHV road during the day but clears out around dark. Heard elk bugling all night and a pack of coyotes not too far away, but nothing bothered us. Definitely will be stopping here again!

Report Check-In

Fantastic as stated below. Stayed near the front entrance which was fine for the night. Hardly any traffic noise from the road. Saw a herd of elk near by. Att had service but Verizon didn’t the next day.

Fantastic place just as stated below. We only stayed near front which was fine. Hardly any traffic noise at night. Saw a herd of elk near by.

Zero humans but I did watch a gigantic herd of elk flee when I pulled my air brake. There's a watering hole just a hundred or so yards away so probably will see more wildlife. I wouldn't dare come if there is a chance of rain/snow, ruts and deep tracks are plentiful as evidence of mud. The road is mostly dirt, very little rock, no sand. I'd suggest high clearance at least, I made it in a 30' skoolie w/o any issues. There are several spots with fire rings, even more up the road. Fairly strong Verizon signal. I'm the only rig here but it's Monday, give it time lol. Oh and the road from Camp Verde, 260 I think, is good but there are a few challenging climbs (for fellow skoolies w/an AT545 tranny :)

Report Check-In

Not much traffic after dark so road noise wasn’t an issue; middle of August night was perfect to cowboy camp under the stars. Had a band of coyotes yipping a few dozen meters away but they moved right on by. Nice sky view.

Nice place to stay. Some highway noise depending on how far back you get. Great Verizon and T-Mobile.
