Description

Nice pick nick area under the trees, close to a river, just after the Chilean border coming from Argentina (just before if you go to Argentina from Chile tough).

Close to and visible from the road, but as the border closes at 20:00 and opens at 8:00, absolutely NO trafic at night, so very quiet and peaceful.
Some picnic tables, and a huge place to make fire.
Very convenient if you arrive late in Chile or if you want to go early to Argentina!

Even when the border is opened, very few cars, so you can sleep until late if you want to 😉 The first car we noticed was at 9:00/9:30 (Et maybe there were some before, but can’t say : we didn’t hear anything as we were sleeping well).

At 11:00, plenty of school buses and people (the kids parents) arrived, they had a kind of kids show... So quite busy when we were there, but it must be exceptional !

Enough space for several big rigs !
We slept in our Kombi T2, and can’t recall if there was or not a sign allowing/forbidding camping, but as there is no one at night, you can at least camp in a tent during the border’s closing times.

Please, keep this place pleasant not leaving traces : take away your rubbish, and if you have to satisfy some natural needs, do it it the woods and don’t leave paper... It’s easy to put it in a bag and throw it away in an appropriated place. Thanks !

Nous y avons dormis un samedi soir et pour autant, nous étions tous seuls dans le silence de la nature :-)

Report Check-In

We stayed here for one night after not making the border crossing (very convenient, just five minutes down the road).

There’s picnic benches and a big fire pit and the road was very quiet.

If you’re able to drive 15 minutes further into Chile (or before if you’re leaving Chile) there’s a free campsite just by the bridge crossing which might be a more ‘camp like’ spot to spend an evening but this was very comfortable for its purpose!

Report Check-In

This place still exists - there is tables and a big picnic area. But the acess with the car is not posible right now because of the amount of the snow blocking the entrance of the area.

_____

Esse lugar ainda existe - organizado com mesas e uma área grande de piquenique. Mas o acesso com carro está impossibilitado agora, pela quantidade de neve bloqueando a entrada dessa área.
