We are a family of three. We bargained and paid 30000 mk for two rooms. AC did not work in room 2. If you ask, they will bring you buckets of hot water for a shower. For food we ordered Fish @ 9000mk, 1/4 kg chicken @ 4000mk. Staff are friendly, beers are cheap, food is good, beds are reasonably comfortable. It is too bad that the view of the lake has been obstructed by the water tanks directly in front of the hotel.

Stayed here for one night before crossing into Tanzania. It is run down but clean and kinda comfortable. Paid 10000 Kwacha for one person including breakfast. No hot water but they gave me a bucket with hot water. Not to bad if you have to stop in Koronga. Staff were friendly but you have to negotiate prices. Paid with card.

As said below there is no view of the lake due to the plant being built right in front. We didn’t stay but did eat and have beers which were both great!
8000KW for half chicken and sides
9000KW for fish and sides

15k (and initially he wanted 20k) for a double room with no hot water, no water pressure, AC broken, replacement fan had the wrong plug for the socket, nothing worked properly, and in the morning there was no power or water. Staff are unhelpful. The nice lakeside setting is now taken up with a water treatment plant under construction. I suspect there are much better places to stay in Karonga.

Neat rooms, nice local food, good service. Fine if you're in a pinch from a long day at the border crossing. 10,500 for single room and 12,000 for double.
