Description

Take the first road left after the Muyil ruins. You can park up here on the dirt road in one of the pull-ins- I stayed in one and my car was completely off the road. Good and shaded, lots of mosquitos.

Report Check-In

Really quiet place to wild camp.
We arrived a bit late at night and left in the morning, so we didn't see anyone.
Mosquitoes are quite hungry.
It's not an official camping spot, we just pitched our tent in the back of the parking lot.
No facilities whatsoever.
Leave no trace so people can keep using it!

A short ride along this road you’ll arrive at a parking lot where you can easily and safely wild camp. I met some of the workers from the laguna and they said ahead of time that it was fine and safe. I camped with my bicycle and had no problem, just plenty of bugs as to be expected in the jungle. Place was very calm and relaxing to wake up at. The guard who came in the morning to the little ticket booth didn’t even say anything to me. In the morning I went over to check out the ruins and the trail with the mirador/viewpoint (at a separate entrance just down the road). Beautiful walk to start the day.
