Small city next to Greek and Turkish border, you can stay just next to the river, there are several options following smal dirt road. Greek cellphone reception.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Accessible by 4x4 or 2D with high clearance and plenty courage. Not for big rigs. Lots of plants scratch the sides if your vehicle is large, and it rocks wildly side by side from the potholes. The place itself is alright, not worth the struggle
Report Check-InThe guy in the trailer is not there any more but left all his rubbish :-(
We didn’t stay there because 3 locals were already staying (weekend), it seems to be a popular pace :-)
If you follow the dirtroad along the river, you’ll find many other, CLEAN possibilities.
No 2WD needed.
The music from the other riverbank is a bit disturbing, but at night calm. Like anywhere at the water, there are many mosquitoes after sunset. The usual garbage.
Meanwhile, one has put his campertrailer and lives there, but he does not bother.
Nothing special but good for a night near the border. River is very muddy so not good for drinking/bathing. Intermittent loud music from across the river on a Sunday night but not bad. Several fishermen in the morning. Svilengrad town has an atm near the hotel in the town centre and a few small markets and casual restaurants but overall town is very quiet. Turn off down to dirt road isn't marked and easy to miss as you're coming off the bridge.
Report Check-InNice quiet spot far enough away from loud disco music. In the morning only some walkers coming by and some cow. Road was pretty bumpy but doable for regular cars.
Report Check-InVery nice place near the boarders. Can stay direct in front of the river. Clean and quiet place.
