Nice Campground next to the sea. There are about 4 to 5 sites under trees with a beautiful view of the sea, picnic tables and fire pits. And an open area for more campers but without tables and fire pits. There is a house where you can get fresh water. We think it is potable but not for sure.
It was free of charge.
Be aware of lots of (deer)-mice!!
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Very nice!
There is a source of not potable water through a hose. They even build a shower you could use with that water.
Very busy when we were there: Long Term, Short Term Campers, Fishing Groups, First Nations
Saw Orcas and a humpback whale
Report Check-InWe stayed here 2 nights. Super nice place with pit toilets.
We saw 7 orcas and 1 hump whale.
Be aware(!): there are tons of mice. we have a trap and catched 5 mice in the first night. then another two during the day. The second night, the trap was damaged and the mice made party the whole night in our car. Other campers had the same problem :-) :-(
Report Check-Inbeautiful free rec site right on a gorgeous pebbled beach. amazing sunsets, lots of wildlife both on land and in the water, a little walk down the beach to the south and you'll find where the naka creek meets the sea, it's insanely lovely.
sites are flat, each private and with a picnic table, spotty reception, perfect for a light google or sending messages. pit toilets (2) are pretty rank but nothing to write home about. as others have said, it was really hard to leave, we stayed longer than we intended and don't regret it. the road in is long but 100% doable in any car.
10/10 would recommend 🙌
Beautiful, clean, free site. We saw orcas from the beach west of the campground, though only for a brief moment. No thrashcans, take out your thrash.
Report Check-InNice spot on the beach, well described in the other posts. Firewood to be found if you are patient. Bitt of a long haul in on the forrest road but our 22 ft C Class managed it in a little under an hour. We had intermittent Rogers service here.
Report Check-InI should say there are several small Rvs, small tent trailers and big tents.
Report Check-InBeautiful spot!!! There is tones of room, probably 20 ish sites, only a few on the sea front. Its mid August so pink salmon season so it's quite busy with people fishing (mostly from small boats/kayaks). Seems like there are some more permanent people here who are on almost constant whale watch, they shout when they see something so everyone get to see! Its a fun site with lots going on.
Mostly quiet at night/the morning, with the odd loud timber truck rolling through. The only slight down side is that the two pit loos are almost full, but I hope that will get sorted soon.
Would recommend for Whale and wildlife watching or relaxing!
free User maintained site, please take home your rubbish!
Went on the long weekend so the Naka Creek rec site was overrun. Probably 20-30 tents in the site and the overflow. We found the Naka Log Dump a little bit to the East that only had a couple tents. Same beautiful view with less people. If you go down to the beach at the log dump go 100m and step into the brush and you'll see someone has built a wood encampment for a fire pit and a tent. Quite the find!
Report Check-InExcellent Rec Site. Follow the tracks about 100 yards thru the meadow across from the pit toilet, thru the thick brush to the south to find a single oasis of a campsite. It is epic in its beauty and solitude, and sits right at the beach. You don't even know the main campsite exists and won't want to leave here. We watched a pod of Orca's swim by last night, and a humpback whale cruised past thd say before.
Report Check-InOne of the best campsites we have stayed at after travelling around bc for 3 months. We had a nice spot on the beach with amazing views of the Johnstone straight and epic sunsets. Lots of fish jumping and we even saw two pods of orcas go past. There’s also a short walk that leads to a waterfall if you head out the way you drove in there’s trail a to the right of the first bridge you come to.
Was very hard to leave this place.
nice free little campground with pit toilets, picnic table and fire pits. 30km of gravel road to come, from Campbell River to Telegraph Cove. Beautiful view on Johnstone strait. We saw sea lions and a whale. Amazing !
