Description

*Seasonal Closures.
.....
Basic campground between Banff Town and Lake Louise. Convenient spot to discover the area around (especially the Rockbound Lake Trail (8,4km) and the Ink Pots Trail (5,7km)). Not too far from Lake Louise and a good alternative to the awful Overflow parking lot.

The campground is first come, first serve. Many free spots even on a weekend in July. Flushing toilets, cooking shelter, drinking water and firewood. 72 sites. $23 per night. You can write your credit card down or pay with cash.

$23 per night. Large and open spots, clean washrooms, and beautiful views. Great sites if you have solar and Starlink. FCFS and Found a spot on Friday at 5pm

Ok campground, first come first serve. Firewood for $9,25 - was totally wet.
Spots are flat - no real privacy

Report Check-In

1 spot available at 11pm in July so definitely worth checking out. The campground consists of 2 loops one to the left which is RV/vans only is a bit more spread out loop to the right which allows tents is basically just a large field scattered with sites so not much privacy unless you’re on the outer rim. Both loops have bathrooms.

Report Check-In

Big open space with lots of places when we arrived (bit after noon). They fille up during the afternoon/evening. Clean washrooms, fire pit on spot.

First come first serve campground in Banff. Here midweek the end of June and only 25% filled. Open area in the trees, excellent for Starlink as there's limited to no cell service. Bathrooms, picnic tables and fire ring. Trains nearby are quite loud. $23 post nite and $9.25 fire permit with wood if added. Pay with cash or credit card. All sized rigs and tents. Trash bins. Yours too enjoy, protect and keep clean. Enjoy!

Stayed here several nights. Great for overflow. We did hear some wildlife at night but nothing crazy. The mountains make a great backdrop and the stars were great. Not a lot of tree coverage

Report Check-In

$23 per night, weak to none cell coverage, Had plenty of spots available, everything closer to Banff was full on this Monday. Note: there is no overflow in Banff.

First come first serve campground, fire pit, lockers for food, toilets

Report Check-In

22$ a night, not very exciting, but there is no free camping in the area.

Report Check-In

Very open campground, practically no shade. But far away from the other spots so weirdly quite private. Very clean washrooms, arrived on a Friday arvo and there were heaps of spots. Just outside cell service

Report Check-In

Busy campground and very open (very little or no shade at campsites). NOTE that as of 7/26/19, all tents have been banned from the campsite temporarily due to a grizzly bear and her cubs being sighted in the campground.

Protection Mountain Campground. One of 5 first come, first served campgrounds. $21.50 Canadian per night, $8.80/night for firepit. Pulled in at 12:45 on a Thursday, at least 5 spots available. Castle Mountain was full. Flush toilets with running water. Kitchen shelters with bear boxes. Stunning views!

Report Check-In

nice campground, not crowded at all. $21.50 per night, extra for fire permit. looks like they recently cut down a lot of trees, so not much privacy but great views of surrounding mountains! some train noise, but no train horn.

Report Check-In

very big campground with 72 spacious sites. wide view but little shade. no service. few washrooms if the campground is full like now in August.

Report Check-In

Perfect place to sleep between Banff and Lake Louise.

Quiet and less crowded than other campgrounds in the area.

Toilets are clean, firepit and picnic table at each site.

Just an update to upload some pictures. Btw it's a 30min drive from here to Lake Louise.
