Latest Check-Ins

Beautiful location but the spots are very close and as people have mentioned the railroad is right at the entrance and trains keep on going all the time. The place is fully packed on a weekday by 8:00 PM.

Report Check-In

Quiet, flat area. Train very close. Just minutes from Lava Hot Springs.

Report Check-In

Very level spots, good cell service on T-Mobile. A few trains passed by overnight, but besides that very quiet.

Report Check-In

Nice quiet camping area. Designated spots in sportsman area. Free. Along quiet river. Train running near by but not a bad momentary distraction. Two bars LTE AT&T

Report Check-In

plenty of open spots. train came by all night but that was expected. good internet. no power or water but big sis with fire rings

Report Check-In

Nice place, well maintained sites. Some with picnic tables; most with fire pits. Train is pretty frequent and quite close by. Rails it’s horn as it passes.
Spots remained nearly all taken for three to four days.
About five minutes from Lava Hot Springs. Lovely place overall, would definitely stay here again. 2-3 bars of both Verizon and AT&T. More than enough for remote work.

Report Check-In

established camp sites with fire rings. not well maintained. toilet doesn't have TP, etc but close to lava hot springs. there are at least 2 dispersed locations that are passed on the way here but they are backed up to the train tracks. a few other campers have come in. good for free camping!

Report Check-In

Decent spot plenty of other campers only a couple spots left when we arrived in the evening. Prob would not stay again just cause the train going by through the night- blasting its horn every few hours was LOUD

Report Check-In

reopened no flood damage as of today
river is high but nowhere near bursting the banks 🤞 mosquitoes arnt horrible
full 4g ATT

Report Check-In

Looks like it’s closed. Road is blocked.

Report Check-In

This site is temporarily closed due to flooding.

Report Check-In

As others have mentioned, 8 spots for overnight camping with a 10 day limit. Fire rings at each spot. Sites look like they can accommodate any size rig. Train already came by within five minutes of me setting up camp and he laid on the horn for good measure (lol). Pit toilet in the day use parking area (it is in horrible condition at the moment; feces and trash all inside - no TP. Signs ask to please take your trash with you; it appears folks have been tossing their trash inside the toilet area). But, can’t beat the price. Nice view of the rolling hills surrounding this area.

Report Check-In

Still snowed in. About a 2-3 foot snow bank is blocking access.

Report Check-In

Currently completely snowed in. We were hopeful where other people have been here in past winters but there’s about a 5ft snowbank.

Report Check-In

unfortunately it looks like the area has been fenced in , still 7 spots but none along river. close to river with access but no riverside camping anymore :(

Report Check-In

Fish and Game very clean park with gravel roads and private sites with a fire ring. Quiet except for the trains, which seemed quiet overnight except for 2 that came by around midnight 15 minutes apart.

Report Check-In

Quiet
Next to water
Dogs can run free
Would come back again

Report Check-In

Great spot, beautiful views. Train runs through the night but if you’re used to car sleeping it isn’t an issue at all. Enough AT&T service for zoom and FaceTime

Report Check-In

Great spot, beautiful views. Trains do pass through the night but if you’re used to car sleeping they aren’t an issue at all.

Report Check-In

This was a beautiful little spot to stay. The downsides were the mosquitoes were huge and relentless once the sun went down, and there were soooo many flies in the pit toilet it was freaky. The trains didn’t bother us. Other than the crazy bugs, it was a nice place to stay for a night.

Report Check-In

Nice level spots. Beautiful view. Road noise isn’t bad. Heads up trains are loud. There are designated camp spots for each person to set up and very peaceful. It’s very clean and beautiful views.

Report Check-In

it's a great spot if you can put up with the train horns at night. Totally redone gravel pads and a circle driveway for about 8 vehicles with fencing all around. There is a vault toilet in the day use area. Fair reception for T-mobile and Verizon (2-3 bars for either.)

Report Check-In

this area has been changed to 9 designated boondocking spots rather than dispersed camping along the river. wooden fencing has been erected to stop campers from getting to anywhere but the designated areas. gravel and level spaces, there is a bathroom at the day use parking area, closest you'll get to Lava Hot Springs for free. 10 day max stay

Report Check-In

Was going to stay here today but the road is blocked off and there are construction vehicles in the area.

Report Check-In

Pulled up to the entrance and it is blocked off with a signed that says temporary closure for construction. Doesn't have any dates and doesn't look like construction has started.

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot between railroad and river! Seems like maybe there’s construction going on sometimes but none while I was here. Pups loved the river! Beautiful views! Drove in with RWD ford transit and had no issues. Great Verizon LTE

Report Check-In

Gorgeous. Train isn’t that bad. River is exceptional.

Report Check-In

Some spots have louder rushing water sounds than others. Towards the end is a large double site with a cool waterfall. Adequate cell service.

Report Check-In

Great place next to a river. Very close to Lava Hot Springs. The trains constantly go by at night.

Report Check-In

lovely place to set up camp. the train is very loud and woke me up. the river is lovely and cold this time of year, we took a dip and saw trout eggs.

Report Check-In

Nice little spot on the flowing river. Only downside is some spots have prickles and the train passing with its horn is loud but overall, it’s a great spot!

Report Check-In

This is a pretty place. Make sure you bring your own shade and toilet paper. Kids can play in the small river.

Report Check-In

Pretty nice, low-key area with plenty of space. The pit toilet is just one, so it depends where you set up camp as to how far from it you are. The train is pretty close, but bearable. The river makes a nice background noise, though.

Report Check-In

Great spot on the river. Tried fishing with no luck but fish are definitely in the water.

Report Check-In

Nice spot but the trains run all day and night they can get loud if you are a light sleeper don’t come here..

Report Check-In

Yes you by the train tracks, but if you stay anywhere by or in lava you hear the train. Lots of spots for trailers tents and vans. There is on pit toilet.

Report Check-In

Nice and lots of space to park near the river...Verizon LTE...train tracks near by. Beautiful area and free.

Report Check-In

That would be a nice campsite near Lava Hot Springs if there weren´t the trains. You will get awake several times during the night.

Report Check-In

Actually called Portneuf, after the Portneuf River that runs through the town, this spot has several large, grassy sites along the river. People have made their own fire pits, and even in mid-October there were several campers. The town was very busy due to a school break in Utah. Lots of families came to enjoy the springs. The site itself is right next to the train tracks. We were awoken several times through the night when a train passed by. The spot is beautiful but not ideal. For one night though, it's super convenient. Be sure to ask at the visitors center where to find the natural springs dug into the river when you're here. FREE!

Report Check-In

Small campground outside of Lava Hot Springs. About 6 minutes of main road leading to Bancroft. Perfect spot and the moon was insanely bright.

Report Check-In

Great star viewing. Close to train tracks and not far from hot springs.

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot. Quite a bit of trash. Lots of birds and water noise. The train engineers were not very considerate however.

Report Check-In

Free Dry Wild Camp with at least 7 sites along the river next to the railroad. Nice Canyon and river close to Lava Hot Springs Village with tubing and several Resort Hot Springs.
