it was packed at the campground on the other side of the river so we came here. it's a little hard to find the proper road in and you want a little clearance to get in here. there are spots all along the river for 1/2 mile, some better than others. all the riverfront were taken so we got in the trees. Good 4G signal on T-Mobile.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
As described by others, spots are numbered access in wasn’t too rough. Lots of deer!
Ranger came and checked in
Report Check-In18 spots. Got here 8:30am on a Saturday and snagged the last one. Big spaces, big enough for multiple rigs. Gorgeous, 2 bars T-mobile
Report Check-InThis place is a gem! The spots are nice and secluded and you’re close to town, but still feel like you’re out in the wilderness. The road in was just a little rough but I made it in my 4wd sprinter fairly easily. I saw several other bigger rigs so it’s definitely doable. Just make sure to watch out for the beds of cacti, especially with dogs and little ones. Enjoy!
Report Check-InAwesome place! Lots of big, flat campsites with fire rings. The GPS may try and take you down a private road, go down the “tunnel view” road to the left of the private road. Only stayed one night but would stay here again for multiple days.
Report Check-InAround 14 free designated campsites w/ river access, porta johns at the day use area, and a great camp host. Bumpy road but doable in my FWD Promaster.
Report Check-InAs described.
18 designated spots.
Camp host on site, does patrol the area often.
Ranger comes by almost daily; just drive by and patrols the area.
I’m at site 18, it’s HUGE, cozy, beautiful trees and leads to an awesome hike up boulders. There’s plenty of shade, although it’s 80% all sun exposed. My internet is super sketchy. T-Mobile ranges from lte 3 bars to no service at all. Quiet, only one other site near by, people don’t seem to stay there long,
I’ll be here the max 14 day stay / please stop overrating at campsites. That behavior is ruining it for us all.
This area is really clean, quiet and seems to be very much respected. Please keep it that way.
Tunnel view camping (free). There is a host in camping site 11. Super nice guy with lots of info. He also gave us a map of the other campings and things to do in the area.
I think there is only 18 sites. We stayed at #14 (between huge rocks !). It was amazing. You can walk to the river it’s super close, about 2 minute walk. The trail to the river passes between campsites 15 and 16. But keep in mind it’s not a super easy walk for an older person as you have to walk down some sand and rocks to get to the water.
We had a 22 ft van and a 10 ft trailer we parked them side by side as we were too long to fit longwise. But the majority of sits have plenty space for big rigs. The road coming down to the camping is a bit rough, but doable as we saw many big rights. We got one of 2 campsites available at 3pm on a Saturday. There is a trail along the very cold river and big rocks to lay on if you plan to go swimming. 14 days camping allowed, but we only stayed 1 night. Amazing place ! Everything was super clean, please keep it this way so we can come back again sometime. Dog friendly as well. Súper recommended !! Close to town (buena vista) where you can find restaurants and swirl great ice cream near the shell gas station. Temperature was about 85 F during the day and 40 F when we woke up on Sunday morning. Thank you Colorado state for this amazing place !!
18 spots. nice secluded. wooded not a great signal. it goes in and out
Report Check-InVery nice, Free, designated sites, some small shade trees. A 3 minute walk to river on clean trails. Large sites are spread far apart except for 14-16, which are almost too small for a short van and are right next to each other. A rig will not fit in these. Big sky, many stars, very quiet, porta-Johns, metal fire rings, and a nice camp host, Jim!
Report Check-InVery nice and friendly camping host!Free to spend up to 14 days here as long as you find a designated(numbered) camping spot.Quiet and secluded place with plenty of space between spots! No water or restrooms.T-mobile signal was ok.Road to get there was very rough.
Report Check-InNice place. Road a little bumpy coming in and out but no issues with hight in the 24ft rv. Spots are spaced out for the most part. Just a little walk to the river. Stayed 3 nights and only seen the camp host once. Cell service was ok with Att and T-mobile. Verizon not the best.
Report Check-InDecent amount of snow on the ground. Was still able to find some fire rings and level spots to park. Plenty of space, only one other camper that we saw. Can’t see the river though which is what I was hoping for. Maybe if you turn left at the bottom of the hill they are there.
