They now want 15 USD for camping. Looked at the chalets but they don’t have bathroom. The place was empty and looked somewhat sad. Pool by the river was okay but we decided to go somewhere else.

Friendly Staff and great view on the river

we came in rainy season and the camp further away doesn't exist anymore, Ina the german Manager brought us to her lodge. The same day I've got very high feiert, Ina brouht me to the Clinch and we were staying for 10 days until my malaria was over. She was really helpfull, nice stuff and a very nice place at the riverfront. They also have a restaurant, organize gamedrives (50 $ and entrance fee), lot's of animals around, we paid 10 $ ppn for camping, we highly recommend Marula Lodge.

Hi, Marula Lodge is open again under new management since 1. April 2022 . Come to visit us and have an unforgettable stay at the river bank of the Luangwa river for a reasonable price. You can book a chalet, riverfront tent or sleep in our nice dormitory, whatever you like.
A swimming pool to relax, while enjoying all the wildlife around like elephants, bushbucks, baboons and monkeys and in the early evening hippos come out of the river to graze on our lawn. Either use our self-catering kitchen or order at the restaurant which offers a variety of delicious meals.

A very nice place indeed.
I was planning on stopping 2 nights but this place was so relaxing and the river and all the animals were amazing just sitting there with my binoculars that I stayed 4 nights.
There is a new manager and as the dorm was not ready so I was put in a chalet for a very reasonable price including a full cooked breakfast.
I also at dinner here and it’s a 3 course menu which was different every night and not to pricey and the cook is very good.
The staff are lovely and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay as on my trip through Africa this place has been the nicest and best value by far.
There is also a bar and swimming pool and they do packaged tours although the website is not up and running yet but it will be soon I was informed.
Saw plenty of animals in the park tour and even leopards.
Best experience in Africa so far.

Super nice place at very reasonable budget. We were given a twin riverside tent for the same price as dorm beds (190 pppn) for a couple of nights and then took the full board package including game drives for a couple of nights. Game drives are very reasonably priced and you see a lot with very knowledgable guides. We also did a walking safari which as a brilliant different angle to experience the park.

The camp itself is full of wildlife - hippos, elephants, monkeys, Bush bucks and baboons are regularly wandering right past you and leopard have even been seen here according to staff. There are lovely places to chill out and watch the wildlife on the river and a sparkling clean pool to cool down by in between activities.

The riverside tents are simple, clean and cosy and the restaurant does ok food but a bit limited atm due to Covid. There’s a self catering kitchen also and you can buy supplies in the local town 5 mins away. Shared outdoor Ablutions are lovely .

No own tents as so many animals come through at night and if you’re an light sleeper be warned in the riverside tents as we had constant companions through the night!

We stayed in a chalet and a tent, both were clean, tent was extremely hot even though it was under shade, but great view of the river. Clean ablutions. Budget package for accommodation, meals and safari. Good value. Food could have been better, breakfast very disappointing. Lovely grounds and common area.

My first African safari. Amazing experience. We saw leopard, wild dogs, giraffe, zebra, hippo, elephant, hyena, and many more birds and small animals.
Marula Lodge was great and affordable. $60 per night for the dorm package including accommodation, meals, and safaris. Can't beat it. Or $10 for just accommodation and a kitchen you can use yourself. But their guides are great on the game drives.

Great place! Many places to hang around, hammocks, sofas, comfortable chairs next to the river to watch animals in the evening. VERY nice host (Jeanie?) who let us eat our own food that we bought before in the supermarket in the lodge restaurant. Really good equipped kitchen with everything you need to cook. Restaurant expensive (12 USD for meal). We stayed in dorms, it’s not possible to camp in the rooftop tent. Price: 144 KW pppn

Beautiful Lodge on the river with many different accommodation types and trips on offer. They have a backpacker dorm, safari tents and up to very new chalets. Food is excellent and plentiful, bar well socked.
There is a self-catering kitchen if you prefer, everything you need.
Grounds are stunning with pool and tons of hangout space. Trips are morning and afternoon game drives into the park, walks on foot and more. We saw WAY more wildlife on their tour than when we drove in ourselves. Guides very knowledgeable, we even saw lion on walking tour.
Elephants walk through Lodge 2x per day, we saw giraffe, hippo, leopard and more within 200m of lodge!
Park is our favourite so far after 2 years in Africa.
Check website for prices and package deals marulalodgezambia.com
Unfortunately no self-camp, there are just too many elephants in area.
Do NOT leave food in your vehicle, elephants will break windows to get it.
