Still a safe, good-to-go place to overnight, even in winter. This is a small city-owned gravel parking strip that comes with urban traffic noise until later hours. Aztec generously offers free water fill and dump service. There is a small city park next door for the kids & dogs to calorie-down. Safeway is a short walk away. I did ask for the OK at the police station-which is your neighbor-and was given the thumbs-up. This small lot is lit up with mellow street lights so you won't find this the place to gaze up at the milky way. But a safe over-nighter it does provide. Locate the water & dump site to find the approved gravel strip to drop anchor.

Talked with an officer on duty who said it’s really not an official site but it was ok since we were coming in late and leaving early and only staying one night.

great place to camp near the aztec ruins. stayed here last night in my 22ft motorhome without a problem!

I asked a police officer if it was OK to park here. He called his supervisor, who said they generally don't mind, but they recommend the gravel parking lot behind Speedway (see other iOverlander spot) as a more safe location. I ended up staying there.

very good wifi reception plenty of parking. we parked along the back toward the museum. there is a large level lot close to the water that could be used. The next day the park was extremely busy with the splash pad. No one bothered us. Nice free water and free waste dump.

This location was great. A free dump site. with water to help clean out. They also have potatable water a few feet ahead. There was a large dumpster free to use.
We did stay the night. We were a little unsure because there is zero signs that say it is allowed. A camper van showed up and settled in for the night. And so we decided to do the same. There's a park and a spray pad on the other side that our family enjoyed using.

A convenient stop for one night. Potable water, non potable water, dump station and dumpster on-site for FREE! Tons of level gravel parking between the road and the MVD/Utilities/Police/Municipal Court buildings. Several other rigs stopped for water and the dump during our overnight stay. We walked .4 miles to an excellent Chinese restaurant. Great service from the City of Aztec!

Stayed here for 1 night. You can chose to stay at the right side of the toilets which is darker (no lights), or at the left side which is a well lit bigger parking space. We decided to stay in the well lit one because information we found on Aztec not being a very safe place. In the end we noticed that the big parking space is right next to the police so i guess this might be the safest place to park anyways;-) there is a sheltered picnic table, toilets were closed now but it's just a 2minute walk to mc donalds which is open till 23:00. These toilets were clean.

Surprisingly quiet place to stay a night. There are plenty of parking spots and there are public toilets nearby.

Parking lot next to the Aztec City Government. There are taps for drinking and non-drinking waters and free City WiFi. It’s not in nature but I got here almost at midnight and there is a Safeway nearby for groceries in the morning and other conveniences of civilisation :)
