Botswana
An amazing lodge, with a beautiful pool deck overlooking the Chobe River. Camping facilities are just next door, but you’re able to make full use of lodge facilities. Perfect way to relax and recover after ‘being bush’ for a week. 225pula pp. Campsite itself is very popular and thus busy, even in low season, and we didn’t like the pitches that much. (in fact only a few are anywhere near level) Although every site is private and trees do separate one site from another, it was all very near to each other (very near!!!). After being in the wild one week being with all the space and quietness, it was not very nice here. Too many people, too much noise, too little space. Also you don’t get to choose your own spot. Even if you book a spot well in advance they will mess up your booking. Twice this happened to us.
If you can ask for Site 3, there is lots of headroom for RTT shade and near abluition block.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Great location, pool, bar, restaurant and friendly staff. Camping plots are really mixed - ours was tiny but the receptionist suggested we check it out first, and the security guard showed us and helped us to park - so they are up front and helpful about this. Half the lodge site is under renovation but that didn't impact anything. 5 minute walk to Choppies supermarket, helpful for supplies. Lodge can arrange river trips, fishing etc which were all good value and really enjoyable.
Report Check-InNice campsites with plenty of shade. Stand number 10, 11 and 12 have a river view. Ablutions are clean and enough to serve everyone. Plenty of birds, mongoose, warthog and some antelope running around in camp. Amazing sunset boat cruise departs at 15:00pm daily to showcase the best of what Africa has to offer. Must be booked and paid by 14:00. Good Buffet dinner (P400 per person) and bar available on site.
Eat before getting into the boat as you will be ravenous when you get off and will run straight to the restaurant. Plenty of other activities available. We paid Pula275 per person to camp.
Awesome facilities (showers, pool, wifi throughout whole campsite, bar on river, etc).
Campsites also good if you can score a good one. A shame price has almost doubled since earlier in the year, now $255 Pula.
As others have stated this is an add on to the lodge. Apart from campsites 5 and 23 the sites are very small and very uneven. They tried to squeeze us into 10 and then 6. We couldn’t make it because of the low trees and the small space. We had to share a campsite for the first night until the big one, 23, opened up. Definitely not big rig friendly! Staff at the campsite were great keeping things neat and tidy. The is a nice bar overlooking the river and the buffet restaurant is right next door. Laundry can be done if staying in the campsite, just ask at reception.
It is a good location if you want to explore Vic Falls for the day, do a river cruise or take a trip into Chobe.
Still 225P pppn. Nice ablutions, plenty of hot water. Access to the lodges facilities, WiFi stable ~1.6Mbps throughout the campsite. Sites vary in size but too big a deal here made about it. Perfect for tents and you’re not that close to each other. Buffet dinner by the river is 395P pp but is excellent, self-serve and plenty of vegan options in addition to usual braai meats. Can get as many portions as you like and was a nice treat. 590P for sunset cruise (inc park fee), nice comfy boat, 3 hours, saw plenty inc a herd of 20 elephants swimming across the river.
Report Check-InWe had a lovely stay on campsite 12. The only site with a river view. The ablutions are good and clean. We paid P225pppn
Report Check-InStayed here for two nights. Sites are rather small and right next to each other. Nights are quite after 10 - 11 pm.
Price since 01.04.2024 is 225 pp.
Report Check-InPrices go up in the high season to 225 Pula pppn, starting April 1st. If you want to stay here after April but book before then, you'll still pay low season fees. Lots of campsites which are located all over the place, but there's usually at least 4 sites grouped together, right next to each other, often more. Conveniently located next to Chobe NP, with a bar and restaurant that overlooks the river. Ablutions are great and plentiful, with some of the best showers we've had so far
Report Check-InPrices have changed!
now 225 Pula pppn on the campsite.
too much for us.
Price is now 225P pp pn, a bit steep for what you get campsite wise, but fine for a night after crossing the border.
Report Check-InPrice of P130 pppn is fair for campsite itself, the access to the main lodge facilities a bonus. Reception was very friendly and helpful.
If you come without reservation, ask reception which sites are empty to choose from and walk around: sites are all very different. I took site 18, with shade, good wifi access and trees to put up a hammock in between. Bushbucks and warthogs may walk up right to your tent, friendly though.
Report Check-InEnormous lodge and big campsite. Got offered choice of 2 and selected 1A. Fine for overnight but could speak to 4 neighboring sites witblut moving! Riverside pub in campsite seems new as well as restaurant in campsite. Unbelievable sunset. Very sociable. Met lovely people there!
Part of Lodge is apparently being renovation amd just one pool available, but its attractive if not a bit exposed and watched over by the lodge diners!
Very cheap but good. 130pppn. Beautiful swimming pool. They offer all kind of activities and tours for fair prices. Did a game drive and a sunset cruise which was very good.
Clean ablutions, sinks for dishes available. Electricity on sites, but no water. Some sites are big and level, some are tiny. We had number 10, which is good for a car with rtt.
A good and very big Lodge with a campsite.
Pool is very good and a lot of people here (also in low season).
The food, drinks and activities are very expensive (sometimes 6x the price from outside).130pppn.
Very nice place, view on Chobe river and possibilities for a wonderful boat trip on the river. Staff very friendly, very good cooking, and campsite under the trees, a lot of bird’s sings.
Even if it’s a big place, wild is preserved, very nice place to stop
Very nice place. They messed up the booking for camping, but otherwise great
Report Check-Incampsites are ok, most of them not totally flat which is a little annoying, but clean ablutions and you can make use of all the lodge facilities so for 130 Pula pnpp a great deal. also at the bar you will meet Twinkle the bartender who is the best host and made our time here special. came to stay for 1 night, ended up staying 3.
Report Check-InAlways a nice place to camp in Kasane. We now had the site nr.11, which is one of the best in our opinion, as it has a view to the Chobe River, but it’s still a bit bushy, so it’s pretty private (though a small site). Flat ground. Suitable for one car. Still 130 pula/pppn. We used the other (unisex) ablution ”higher up”, which was bigger and cleaner with good showers.
Report Check-InAlways a great place to stop over for a night or 2 . 3 x campsites big enough for bigger rigs, some others fairly squashed but decent. Amazing facilities at the lodge with swimming pool and great views over the Chobe . Very friendly staff everywhere . Camping . 130 pula, pppn
Report Check-InAlways a great stopover for some relaxation. Great location on the Chobe River with awesome pool and deck, food and drinks and friendly staff. The evening sundowner cruise is a must too. A few sites can take big rigs
Report Check-InSite 15 is very spacious and close to the river. Excellent shade for tents.
Report Check-InGreat sunset point by the river, there is Sedudu Bar inside also with a good view. Some campsites even have the view to the sunset. Animals walking around. Ablutions were nice, near campsites, which are very close to each other, some are very small. Paid 130pppn. Didn’t have the time to enjoy the rest of the lodge, but looks amazing and the camping is same price as other camps. No wifi in the campsite, only in the reception.
Report Check-InBeautiful lodge, terrible campsite. More akin to a very crowded dirt pit. Very fast wifi.
Report Check-InThird time here, but very disappointed. Although many spots are empty they gave me one quite steep, couldn’t sleep at all. Workers opposite the fence staring at us all day. I was supposed to stay for a week, I stayed 2 and it was enough.
Report Check-InGreat place to camp to recharge and have a rest. Right on the Chobe river with access to the Lodge facilities. Great showers. Good WiFi. Great pool area. Warthog and bushbuck in the camp. Super friendly staff.
Report Check-InReally nice place, highly recommend.
The campsites have power and light, water is not too far of a walk. The showers and restrooms are nice, hot water and toilet paper included! Wifi is not at the campsite, but you can walk to the lodge which has a pretty fast and stable connection (my first time finding this in 25 days camping in Southern Africa).
They also have an activities center and can book stuff for you. They have a fleet of boats and go out several times a day for a river cruise from docks on their property (very convenient). A 3-hour cruise costs BWP 540. They can also book game drives, nature walks, Victoria falls tours, scenic flights, and fishing trips.
Report Check-InLovely place, great facilities, beautiful pool. Very reasonable price for camping. Boat cruise a good time. Twinkle the bar tender was a top host
Report Check-In130 pppn, we didnt stay and were going 1 night in Kwalape lodge (excellent facilities for 110 pppn) and 1 night in Bananya Backpackers (one night overstop for 75 pppn/cheapest option in town ;-)
Report Check-InOur plan was to stay for only one night but we ended up staying an extra one cause we liked the lodge facility.
Even though we’re camping you can use the pool and the wifi area (which was very good - hard to find).
It has a nice and chill atmosphere.
For the camping: One site is VERY different from the other. There are some that are huge (don’t even know if its the same price). And others thar barely fits a car.
We have a regular (not 4x4 with tent) and they gave us a small one, but for us it was enough.
Some pitches have river view, but its not like you can really see anything or enjoy cause the site is under construction.
For me it was really missing individual power stations and water.
The show is very clean and amazing! Don’t know how they can keep it bugs free being that close to the river!
Really enjoy and recommend, specially considering the average prices for camping in Botswana, this seems pretty fair (130 pulas).
Report Check-InVery nice safari lodge with adjoining camp site. The lodge is beautiful being right on the river Chobe with pool, bar, restaurant with very nice seating areas. The food is excellent and the staff very helpful. The camp site is a short walk from the lodge along lit walkways. The campsite is fully fenced and secure. Each pitch has its own power, light and braai place. The ablutions are shared (men and women) and very good. Some pitches are very small so ask at reception what pitches are available. The staff at reception allowed us to go choose our pitch before signing in. The best aspect is that as campers you have full access to the lodge facilities including the pool! We went on a 2-hour morning boat ride and saw 35 different bird species! We also went on the sunset cruise which was wonderful, with hippos and elephant on the Chobe island. If you’re hungry, get the full breakfast buffet and you’re sorted for the day. BWP126 pppn for a root top tent on a Hilux.
Report Check-Inits still 126 pppn and big rigs will fit, no problem for example on campsite 5 and a few others
Report Check-InThe location is amazing but the lodge itself is very commercial. The sign at the pool says hotel guest only but they allowed us to use it although I think we disturbed all the hotel guests having breakfast...
Report Check-InNice camping, very clean friendly staff.WFI at the reception very good.Fantastic location.Camping for one night Pula 255 ca.20$
Report Check-InNice but busy campsite. 126 BWP Pppn.
Several trips, cruises and drives, eg trip to VicFalls (only transportation) leaves. See photo of activities and rates 2022. Pay in BWP, is much cheaper!
In front of the gate of the lodge is small shopping mall with Indian restaurant, ATMs and shops where you can buy simcards and food (Choppies)
Nice but busy campsite. 126 BWP pppn. Lots of activities organised. See photo overview. Pay in BWP, is less expensive. In front of the gate there is a shopping mall with ao ATM, phoneshop and foodstore.
Report Check-InGravel pitch only few are level and only few on river. Electricity on site. Non pottable water at some sites.
Communial ablusions - ok.
Camp noisy with some inconsiderate campers playing music aloud.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Camping BP126 pppn.
Arranged a day trip to Vic Falls @ BP860 pp return. It exclude any Visa charges at the border and Vic Falls entrance fees.
Not same quality as camping on the Namibian side.
Report Check-InOur 2nd time here (first was in early 2020). The price was now 126 Pula/pppn. Campsite is ok. But only a few spots on the fenceline with a river view, but those sites are nice. We had one of those now, nr.16 which also had some bush as a cover from neigbors. Also even for our RTT. Some sights are very sloped and no cover and neighbors are always pretty close. Electricity and light on every site. Big campsite which was pretty full now so ablutions were used hard, still they were clean and ok. Stayed 2 nights.
Report Check-InWe came and had a look but quickly moved on. It’s almost like they are trying to discourage campers! There was very few campers there, so we could have had any site, but none of them looked very appealing. They are small, sloping and closely packed together. Staff weren’t particularly friendly. Not for us.
Report Check-InCampsite currently closed for maintenance. En-suite twin rondevals available for 1,398 pula.
Report Check-Inthe sites are quite small and close from each other, but prestations are good. unisex ablutions. the Pool is great. we paid 120 pulas ppn.
Report Check-InDefinitely to be avoided. Campsites are too small for trailers and very slanted for vehicles with RTT. No water or ablution close campsites. Baboons on premises and no attempt at all is made by management to chase them off.
Report Check-InBig upmarket lodge with a campground. Despite close the Kasane, very natural and quiet. Half of the sites are very narrow, privacy is not perfect but ok. You can see many animals around the lodge and the campground: warthog, bush bock, gennet, banded mongoose, velvet monkeys and many birds. Good Wifi at the bar or 4G Orange signal.
Report Check-InNice camping spot next to Chobe River. Good views and space for large trucks. Nice restaurant and pool
Report Check-InThis is the best campsite by far when you have to stay in Kasane. We are at campsite 3 where you stand under a huge Jackelberry tree. The warthogs, antelopes and various bird species keeps you entertained while you are at the campsite. The ablutions is unisex with clean hot showers and clean toilets. At P120 pppn which includes electricity at each campsite and WiFi near the dining and reception area.
Report Check-InBig resort with their restaurant and bar open, boatcruise is 240P per person and leaves at 3pm. The campsites are uncomfortably close to each other, most sites are sloping or taken by the SA big camp setups, all negative points for me so I would much rather stay at Tsebe for some privacy.
Report Check-In120 pppn, many camsites are partially occupied by bushes or trees, vehicels over 2.5m struggle with the tree branches.no wifi in camp area, did not really like it
Report Check-InLarge high-end campsite, a bit impersonal due to its size, impressive bar area over the river, nice ablutions, we paid 120 per person.
Report Check-InCampground near the river with rather small sites. Bathrooms OK. In the night noisy hippo's around the site Nearby lodge with all facilities and wifi. Many tourists around there. The lunch buffet is excellent.
Report Check-InGreat location. Amazing staff. Facilities great. Go go go. Great in between bush stay. Of course the river safari. 110 pula. Well worth it.
Report Check-InGreat place, campsite 13 is the best location just next to the river with a sunset view. Quite close to the neighbours, which were nice and silent. 105 ppppn.
Report Check-InAfter picking up the 4x4 and topping up the car with groceries we stayed one night at the Chobe Safari Lodge Campsite before leaving to the Linyanti and Savuti-area. One night was enough and a good place to start of from, near to the Sedudu gate, then you can drive through the park to Ngoma Gate. The campsite is quite small and not private at all. The restaurant area is well maintained and the dinner buffet was excellent (but pricey)
Report Check-InNot much privacy, clean communal ablutions, very friendly and helpful staff. We used their laundry service, was very affordable. Electricity at the sites. Swimming pools were very nice and clean. We used the pool at the a la carte restaurant opposite the road - it was quieter than the one at the main restaurant. Campers are as welcome as lodge guests.
Report Check-InA HORRIBLE campsite. Completely agree with SM’s comment below - lodge seems nice but campsite is an afterthought. Wish we had a look at the campsite before paying. Our camp site was TINY and on a slope, neighbours extremely close you can hear people whispering. The shower block nearest to us had COLD showers last night so we tried the shower block closer to the river this morning but the water was only extremely hot (I couldn’t put my whole body in) plus it was pretty dirty with clumps of hair in the corner and the sink was blocked so water just gathered at my feet. There was also no toilet paper in the toilet this morning, I suspect this is a usual occurrence given that there were about 100+ campers using the same facilities given the number of large overlanding trucks in the campsite. We spent the previous two nights in Kwalape for cheaper (90 pulas pppn) and wish we had went back there given our experience at Chobe Safari Lodge. Do yourself a favour and AVOID this campsite!
Report Check-InVery nice camp, the employees are welcoming and always smiling, good ablutions, swimming pool and sunset every night by the riverside. Some campsites are small with not much privacy. When we arrived at the reception they said there were no spot left. They don't communicate well with the campsite cause the number 17 is a small spot but was still free. So if they tell you they don't have availabilities and if you don't mind having a small spot, ask for number 17 ;) Afterall we ended up staying 5 more nights at number 1A, very good one!! Laundry is 70 pulas for a load (4kgs). Breakfast is amazingly delicious, though pricy (18$pp) but worth trying it at least once :)
Report Check-InA very likeable campsite with a great view over the Zambesi River
Report Check-InWe stayed for three night, facilities is good and lots to do. The sunset river cruise is a must do.
Report Check-InThey seem not to like solo campers, because when I asked if I can stay for two nights, they said "just come tomorrow morning and we will tell you." I had to get angry and insist to see the boss to finally get a proper answer. Since there is a fixed number of camping places they probably prefer having bigger groups checking in. Such a shame for a expensive lodge like this!
Report Check-InWe paid 105 Pula today for camping pP. Came here spontaneously and had two spots to choose from. Open WiFi in lobby area
Report Check-InWe visited but chose not to stay. The campsite is an afterthought to the actual lodge (which is large), and is poorly organized. You have some sites with nice view onto the river, but it’s a little cramped. Not appropriate for ground camping.
Report Check-InVery nice sites they can be cramped but you can easily make yourself private depending on the way you park. Amazing value 105 pula pppn. Good WiFi, nice pool and good ablutions. Each site has power too.
Report Check-InI found the sites well sized and well spread out but there are certainly areas where you can get squeezed together.
Great staff. If you don't have one, ask at reception about using the fridge (they have one for guest use).
I was told the price would increase in April from 105.
Not much to ad, still 105 pula/ppn, very quiet when we where here. Saw crocs and hippo, from the resort and heard Lion closeby at night!
Report Check-InBeautiful lodge but the campsite not so much. Cramped spots and very noisy. Luckily Chobe NP makes up for it. Staff was friendly.
Report Check-InBeautiful swimming pool, Nice bar and restaurant in the lodge nearby that you can use that’s why it’s worth to stay in that place. WiFi unfortunately not to fast. Camping spots small and pretty far from the main lodge (500 m). Ablutions clean and big. We paid 105 P pppn.
Report Check-InWe really liked the campground and the Lodge. You can use the facilities and it has good Wifi (not at the campground). The sites are not very big but for one night it was absolutely worth. Good price for what you get.
Report Check-InNot much to add to previous comments. 105 Pula ppn is not so expensive, but some areas of the campground are Not very nice, these areas do Not have any light. I do Not really like unisex ablutions, which ran out of toilet paper late afternoon. It was a bit noisy, some late arrivals were passing our Spot during the evening. But Kasane is a busy spot, not so much choice, other places had been full already at noontime.
Report Check-InLuxury camping but not really the best to camping. Anyway,
.
DO NOT BOOK ANY ACTIVITIES HERE!!!
.
They charge you much more than other local touring offices. An example: in the camping the price for boat cruise is 270bwp, instead of 180bwp at the small Nkwe agency in the town (the boat is exactly the same one).
105 Pula pppn for camping. Avoid campsite 6 as you will hear the water pump from the bathrooms all the time! Pretty noisy campground with big tour groups. Not the nicest place (some sections of campground is also pretty dirty) but has a great sunset bar overlooking the river!! Swimming pool, restaurant and bar also all overlooking the river. Awesome sunset spot. Free wifi. Hot water. Good toilet facilities.
You can leave your car parked in their secure parking if going on a day trip.
Report Check-Instayed 3 nights. campsites are beautiful and look out on to the river. security is good. ablution block are unisex. good wifi and bar. they are working on one of the ablution blocks, which causes a bit of noise during the day. at night you hear a lot of animals from the park.
Report Check-InGreat campsites and very developed place. Nice bar with perfect sunset viewing over the river. Very friendly staff. Great tour office. We got a bottle of wine after a delay with one of our tours.
Highly recommended.
same like they wrote at the 1.3.18
we liked it, but some of the sites are very small.
wild animals all arround
had a lovely experience here but might be due to it being off season and not that busy. they have separate spots for overlander tour operators. enough showers and toilets for the entire camp. 1 campsite (#13) has a river view. P95pppn. do not keep any food in your tent!!!
Report Check-InGoing to Chobe national park, nice place to stay. They have S,M,L campsite for camper, backpacker, safari group or motorcycles.. etc. some campsite next to the river, some has light. All of them has one plug. Enough shadows. 95 pula pppn. For wifi you need to go reception and free. You can see so far buffalo, elephants... etc but Hippo and crocodile can be so close, be careful for that. Wild-pork and monkeys are everywhere therefore take care your food and don’t put in your tent because wild-pork can break the tent. Market is just a few meters far.
Report Check-InTiny plots and quite crowded for campers. 95 Pula pppn. We unfortunately had a group of guides next to us who drank all night and morning. Cars from town with "lady friends" coming and going every hour until 2 o'clock in the morning. Security and management did not seem to mind. Not a very pleasant experience.
Report Check-InVery big and crowded place. The campsite was fully booked when I got there so I went to Kubu lodge instead.
Report Check-InA very nice lodge with great food, activities, and atmosphere. We camped for 95pula pp/n. Campground was a little noisy during the night but ok. Good access to all amenities.
Report Check-InStayed here before. Nice camp. Enjoy the resident wildlife... mongoose, wart hogs, vervet (and real treat) a hornbill feeding his mate and young in mudded nest. Site 11 is great although a bit of a tight squeeze with a rooftop. WiFi at the lodge real slow during this visit.
Report Check-InCampsite far behind lodge, receptionist was not very welcoming, we had to fight for a place even the camp was empry! Nice vuiew over the river, ablutions OK, WIFI only at Restaurant. To expensive for families (adults 95pn, children under ten(!) 70pn)
Report Check-InCamping in Kasane.
Did not really like the campsites. The ablutions are also unisex and open for all. No privacy in ablutions which was a bit odd.
Also cannot see the river from the sites so not ideal.
Great campsite on the chobe river, each site has a fire pit (no grids) and it is very clean. Can get busy and noisy. Wifi available at the main lodge. Basically in the chobe reserve so you can hear the animals, there is an electric fence around. Lots of warthog, mongese, nyala and monkeys in the camp. Watch your food!
Report Check-InProbably best place to stay in Kasane, walking distance to shops, pitches are close to each other but have electricity and braai area, good and regularly cleaned ablutions, dish and laundry area with hot water, the Lodge itself has a very nice terrasse and you can use the pool and get free wifi access (mostly not fast enough for blogging but you can get 3G signal at the campsite), bar at campsite is nice to let the sun go down over the Chobe River, security sells firewood at 12Pula (1€) per bundle, best of all was the wildlife roaming around the camp including sitatungas, warthogs, squirrels, vervet monkeys, mongooses and baboons, beware of the latter as they will steal your food! 95Pula (8€) pp
Report Check-In190 Pula for 2 per night. Ablutions are clean and hotel facilities excellent.
Report Check-InWe agree on all above. Didn't explicitly check in our dog but kept him on a long leash and nobody said a thing.
Report Check-InExceptional camping - and full use of the lodge facilities (pool etc) too - for 85 pula pppn. Free open internet at lodge hotspots. Electricity and braai stand/fire pit at each site. Good value for money
Report Check-InOn the Chobe river. Offers good food and different activities (we liked the River Safari). Campsite is popular with South Africans and can be full during holiday season. Free Wi-Fi at the reception. Price 170 Pula per night for 2 persons and a car.
Report Check-InAn amazing lodge, with a beautiful pool deck overlooking the Chobe River. Camping facilities are just next door, but you’re able to make full use of lodge facilities. Perfect way to relax and recover after ‘being bush’ for a week! (170BWP/night)
