Matamba offers a unique fence-free camping experience with two exclusive upmarket campsites. Located in the stunningly beautiful Waterberg region of the Limpopo province at an altitude similar to Johannesburg, Matamba has one of the best climates in the world, with mild winters and temperate summers it can be visited all year round. With easy access from Johannesburg and Pretoria (only 2,5 hours drive). Just off the R33 between Vaalwater and Lephalale, Matamba is an ideal weekend getaway or stop-over on the way to Botswana.

Very nice campsite - we keep visiting Matamba as our first stop from Johannesburg. Now under new ownership and cheaper, but still with the same great campsites and very clean facilities
Report Check-In Very nice but pricey..R360pp pn
Huge private sites, pool is small but good on a hot afternoon to soak. Toilets are truly wonderful experience.. saw some deers. To enter you will need to call owners and they take you in. Bush trails look interesting but with rain n border crossing same day we left early. Phone had proper signal.
Great campsite but we are biased ;-) Checking in here to amend some details.
Report Check-InLuxury camping, quiet, 200m between campsites. Great walking trails with plains game around you. You have access to the entire farm. No hunting here. Very nice pool. Expensive.
Report Check-InIt’s an amazing lodge with modern and very clean facilities and a pool. You can walk several well signed trials and observe many animals like Elands, Giraffes, Zebras, Sable ... The owner, Sue and Alan, are very very friendly and helpfully. We stayed for three nights and will come back.
Report Check-InDon’t understand why this place does not have more comments... if you check google maps you get more insights and see the excellent rating.
It is our second time and we just love it ! Complete silence during day and night, well maintained facilities, plenty of bushwalks on your own possible, bush atmosphere at its best with giraffes passing through the camp.... ‘Oryole’ is our preferred spot. The design and construction of showers is also a benchmark!
With approx 20 USD / night / person it is not cheap but 100% worth paying.
