Description

The main reception for the park. This is where you need to pay for your permit, and for camping, or check in for any of the lodges if not private.

Internationals pay $20pppn + $3 for a Zambian vehicle for up to five consecutive days.

You can also book activities such as guided walks ($10 per hour).

If you do not have a campsite reservation from ZimParks, you can enquire about availability of camping pitches at Nyamepi Camp. Pricing seems to be variable, but as of 2023 is supposed to be $130 per site (up to 6 people).

Latest Check-Ins

Pricing structure changed from 11/2023. Walk-In prices do not exist anymore. For Nyamepi (which is the only public campsite) you pay 130,- USD per night for a riverfront site and 100,- USD for backline directly behind riverfront, both for up to 6 people. Conservation fees are charged per night, same for the vehicle (not per 5 nights anymore). Another couple arriving there also asked for walk-in price but got the same answer.

Bathrooms with solar showers and toilets available. Facilities are very unmaintained. Poor water pressure in the shower. 2 ablution blocks with each 4 showers and 4 toilets (ladies and gents) available for >30 campsites.

We were talking to 2 different managers at 2 different days and both confirmed that pricing has changed in 11/2023.

For individual travellers it’s upsurd what’s being charged here. We were lucky to share with another couple that entered the park when we were already on our way out.

Landscape is magnificent and abundant wildlife.

It seems the pricing structure for camping has changed for 2023.
If you arrive without a booking you are now supposed to pay $130 per site (up to 6 people), rather than paying pppn.

Looking at the entries here on iOverlander, it doesn’t seem it is being well implemented! We queried the price hike and showed them the entries on here, so they agreed to let us pay $30 pppn, and booked us into Nyamepi campsite 9 (a stunning riverside spot).

Conservation fees were $20 pppn (international) and $3 for our SADC vehicle (for up to 5 nights). Payment by Visa card was possible.

The prices changed in 2023!

They wanted to charge us and “overlander truck” as we are 9tn camper truck, thats 100$!!!!

If i am not wrong an overlander truck in Zim is carrying like 30 tourists with windows …

We are just 4

After arguing the manager, Jimmy, accepted we pay 10$ as a 25 people bus because we were sleeping in Nyamepi.
If you are in a day visit it was 30$!

There are many categories, ask for the list!

Take care, the prices are becoming crazy!

A normal 4x4 of 3,5tn is 10$ day visit and just 3$ if you sleep there.

fees for international tourist in jun 2022:
- conservatory : 20 us$/pppn
- campsite : 23 us$/pppn
+ 30 us $ for our car (it is an Camper)

Nice place for the campsite.
but not always hot water in ablutions

2 Europeans camping at Nyamepi should be 96 USD pn. They charged us 10 USD extra because we were in a big truck.

No service, WiFi, or TP at the camps.

For SADC residents its is only 18USD for conservation fees btw so slightly cheaper and they accept Zim Bond notes so if you change your USD first at the border or in Harare it is only a third of the price at the moment and dropping. They need to accept Bond as a 1:1 payment as it is a government institution.

You can book guided walks here as said for 10USD per hour or buy a permit to walk yourself without a guide for 15USD per day which is quite mind blowing actually to allow people to walk here unsupervised but for those with bush experience the ultimate ofcourse!
For 2USD you can use the wifi for an hour which is slow but it works.

Non-Zimbabwean residents pay $20pppn + $10 per vehicle for up to five consecutive days.

You can also book activities such as guided walks ($10 per hour), and if they are available you can book one of four camping pitches at Nyamepi Camp at $23pppn. These four are the only ones available to book here if you do not have a reservation from ZimParks.
