Description

MODERATOR NOTE: Place removed because camping is illegal here. Private Property

Seems this is actually not national forest. It's some sort of separate land grant, so dispersed camping doesn't apply.

Latest Check-Ins

A house neighbor called the police to come tell us not to sleep here. They were nice, but seems this is not the spot. The road stays nice up to an old dispersed campground before the intersection of 542. Go stay there instead.
reason across the street is neat, like a mile. Got a kick out of the abandoned farm, and there's a bit of a view. Worth a 20 minutes walk.

Report Check-In

Traihead of Sabino Canyon. We did both trails east and west. Nothing impressive. Some old fur farm buildings in the west section. Easy trail. I didn’t stay because of the no camping sign.

Report Check-In

Much easier to access than the spots nearby. Spot is almost flat. No one bothered me. But at 7:45 am motorbikers arrived and let their engines run for about 30 minutes while they ate and got dressed. It didn’t bother me because I was already awake. I took the hike across from the parking lot and it was really nice. A beautiful spot. Pack it out and keep it available.

Report Check-In

We stayed here last night. Quiet, and beautiful night sky! It is a parking lot for the trailhead so arrive near or after sunset. We saw law enforcement pass once and they didn’t bother us.

Report Check-In

Quiet parking for nearby trailheads. Picnic area was clean, two trash cans. Law enforcement drove by several times but didn’t give us any trouble. Heard coyotes in the distance but none came by. Road was loose, but nothing too bumpy. Nobody else came by, super quiet. It’s much cooler here than down by Albuquerque, pretty chilly at night.

Report Check-In

Quiet place close to 40 to stay for the night. Good cell service, nice 1 mile hiking loop.

Report Check-In

Spent the night here and it was great. No traffic, no one else in the lot, had the place to ourselves. No services but it’s beautiful. Road was perfectly plowed despite recent snow. The lot was not plowed but was well packed and didn’t have any issues with 2WD.
