We drove up to Hatun Machay with the intention of staying there. Except for 3 friendly dogs, the place was deserted. Since there were no flat areas nearby, we opted to head back down the gnarly road (high-clearance, 4x4 needed probably due to wet season conditions) to this place that we passed on the way up. Flat area with natural wind breaks. Great views of the valley and mountains to the west. Quiet. Free.

Report Check-InThis is a great free camp spot with spectacular views. Especially if you don't want to drive all the way up the mountain.
Report Check-InDeserted camp muddy road we came back and stayed here. Good spot for one night as not much else an option for staying...
