Description

Campsite at the bottom of Mt Sabache north of Samburu. Great place to hike to the top of the mountain, approx 3hrs up and 2 down. You can also camp at the top. 1,500 pppn, 1,500 for a guide per day. Don’t forget the us$ 100 a day to be there in the first place. Awful place to stay.

After calling the number offered below I talked to a girl manager and after some time negotiating we came to the price of 4000 including camping for one person, conservation fee and hike. The guide receives his own salary so it's included but I tipped him anyway. I went for the sunrise hike to avoid the heat and it was worth the effort. Even the sunny walk from the main road to the campsite. Also, dinner price is 1200 and breakfast 600, 1l water 200, keep that in mind. No one said anything about 100$ fee mentioned below

The place was great! The camping fees were reasonable and the cheapest in this region. It was very clean, there were new toilets and warm showers recently built, a cooking banda, firewood, and water. The askari who helped us set up camp and make our fire. Lovely place and people.

The location is beautiful. Our campsite was under a huge acacia tree. You can select your site. There was also an option to dine at the main lodge which has a restaurant and bar. Excellent meals and chef.

We hiked Sabache. Our guide as a bronze level guide and so friendly and knowledgeable.soectacular views.
We also had half day rock climbing and bouldering lessons. They rent camping gear and climbing gear to those who need it.
We thought the facilities were a great value for what we got. We’ll definitely return with friends!

We just ask for the prices - 2.300 pppn for Campsite (we are completely self-sufficient)

Definitely too expensive for that place

the campsite is great. it was green this time of the year and I hiked Mt ololokwe at 3am with a guide (paul) and I had the best sunrise on top. paid 1000/# for camping 1500/= for hiking. I enjoyed two nights there

We agree with the review below. We thought the campsite itself is not that bad. Even though there is not much shade, we preferred it over staying at the parkinglot at the reception. There is more potential when everything is finished, there is electricity in the ablution block and they have a better water flow (showering with two drops is not really working). For now it is just too much money for what you get. 600-800 pppn would have been more appropriate and you wouldnt hear me complain. Camping in one of their safaritents (the more basic one) would only have been 10 dollars more, because they include the conservation fee. But not much choice in the region, so if you want to climb mount Olokwe, this is the place to stay. But dont expect too much.

I want to give a fair review to this campsite as it is a beautiful conservancy with a great hike and some super climbing. However the campsite is terrible, a half finished building, a rusty water truck abandoned in the middle and way below standard ablutions for 2300 ksh pppn!!!!! on top of that it is 2000 ksh pppd for conservancy fees and 2000 ksh pp for a guide to do the hike. I don't mind the conservancy fees or the guide fee but the camping fee for what is on offer is way too expensive. We had planned to stay 3 nights but ended up staying 1 night because we really wanted to hike up Ololokwe. The camp manager was lovely and we ended up camping in a parking spot at the lodge and having use of a bathroom in one of the posh tents which was much better. I have been travelling a year full time and am not precious but I do believe in value for money. Come on Sabache if you want to charge those prices for camping you need to sort the campsite out.

Nice place and friendly people. In the middle of nature. Very basic sanitation and thin water line from shower. Cold but not really due to hot weather. Ksh 2000 pppn. Hike Ksk 1000 pp and guide also Ksh 1000. Very nice walk into mountains. Firewood included in price. We refused the warrior next to us all the time and preferred privacy instead. I

It’s a terrible to campsite . No shade, no water and incredible pricing, us$ 100 a day when you bring your own tent. No views, you’re stuck in the bushes when camping there. No refund if you don’t want to go, they just cut you off in an incredibly rude way. Don’t go there other than take a day trip up the mountain.

My favorite place in the entire universe. So serene, great service, excellent value, amazing views and so many options for adventures. Above and Beyond our expectations. Undiscovered treasure.

Nice location in the hills, easy to find from the main road sign. Camping KES 1500 per non resident and KES 1000 per resident per night. At the current time of our visit campsite has a fire area with wood, no shade and two dirty pit toilets and cold showers. Cold drinks available at the main camp. We also did the 'guided' hike up Mt Ololokwe for KES 1500pp during which time the guide basically just showed us the route but didn't give us any information. We were also charged by the manager KES 1000 per person per day conservancy fee. Overall quite expensive for what they offer but nothing much better seems to be in the area.

really nice place, 1500 ppn, they made us fire at night, we did the hike for 1500 for the Guide plus 1500 conservation fee and it was spectacular, be sure to hike for sunrise!

Fantastic setting tucked in the valley between the mountains. Simple ablution block with cold showers/pit toilets, however they are clean. Fantastic birds and definitely elephants around- we saw many tracks; as well as heard Leopard and saw African Wild Cat. A very peaceful spot, worth at least a 2 night stop.

We would recommend contacting Dipa, the manager, prior to arrival to negotiate the cost of camping. He can be reached at +254 726 991 597. We managed to camp for 1000pppn after speaking with him.

We also hiked up the nearby mountain which was absolutely amazing- it requires a fair amount of fitness but worth the effort. We paid 1000 for the guide, and 1000 pp for the conservation fee. There was also a nearby waterfall that you could walk to (at least in the rainy season).

On arrival from the main highway, look out for the sign indicating the correct turn-off.

I saw a sign to the camp on the main road while
I was cycling from Laisamis to Archers Post and decided to head towards the camp as I wouldn't reach town before the night.
The camp is at about 4 km and not 2km as stated on the main road sign.
Friendly staff. Bicycle friendly place. I could camp while getting a cold shower in one of the rooms. I paid 1000Ksh for the night and 300 for breakfast. The "good" price I got might be because I am a cyclist.

If you only want to camp here it is 3000 KS per person which makes it crazy expensive. Nice spot but really not worth the price.

large campsites in the valley between moutain with simple ablution block. we had a very nice and educating bush walk with 2 of the young samburus, but apart from the hike to the top the others activities and prices are quite unclear. a very nice stay and experience but there were always someone around our camp, friendly and helping but leaving no intimacy.

Really enjoyed this campsite after a month in Ethiopia. 1500pppn, we decided to do the hike which was beautiful but you need to be fairly fit. 1500pp conservation fees plus another 1500 for the guide. We had a guide called Jawas who was great. Cold shower and long drop but clean. Really enjoyed this camp. Also offers bundas
