Description

NOTE: can't drive all the way to Hot Springs, park north of Rancho San Cosme and walk 25 minutes to the big Rock Island.

4x4 “road” beginning at Rancho San Cosme and ending at the beach and hot spring, two coves north.

Enter Rancho San Cosme and head to the left of the beach (north). Begin driving onto a faint 2 track in the rocks on the beach. Unhook the barbed wire fence midway thru the beach. Drive around the point, over large uneven rocks, just barely out of the ocean. Continue on the rocky trail towards the “house” then head left on the road along the fence before reaching the house. Continue following the road North, aiming for the ocean. Emerge onto a spacious deserted beach with plenty of room to camp.

There are a few fire pits and a decent palapa midway through the beach.

The hot spring can be found in front of the large rock “island” in the bay. Walk along the beach and cliffs until you reach the point of land across from the boulder island. Cross a short distance in the shallow ocean to get to two rock pools with bubbles emerging. They are nice and hot.

Keep the tides in mind for the return trip. The path to the hot spring, the hot spring, and the road back to the ranch become submerged during higher tides.

Latest Check-Ins

This place is a bust for us. Nice view with an extremely rocky and inclined shore. Walked to hotsprings gps point, walked 200 yards back and forth, no sign of any springs, just some falling apart building. Once we were back at the camp, some locals came over demanding $5 or 100 pesos per night. With our 3 weeks in Baja so far, this is the least recommended spot.

Hot springs as described. We parked at Cosme beach and took paddle boards around the point to the pool. Nice soak at low tide.

One of our best camp of our travel! The track to come until here from the sea need a 4wd and high clearance. May be there is an other way by the mountain but I didn't test it. The hot spring is so cool, we were alone. The temperature was between 35°C (beginning of low tide) and 42°C (end of low tide). There is also a nice place quiet cove with coral and fish. Once you are too cold after swimming in the sea you can go in hot spring!

What a gorgeous walk along the beach and over the hill! Easy to find the pools with iOverlander map. Dig around in the sand for hot spots. Great Blue Heron sightings and great beach combing.

best free hot springs!!! perfect temperature at low tide between 1pm and sun set!!

Spring is located on the north side of the cove. Small pool located in the rock outcrop that leads to the large bolder..

So really great to bike down here after cycling from Canada, and be able to relax my muscles in this special spot on the sea.

1hr + drive from the #1. The road is fine for 2wd and low clearance but runs along a cliff side so go slow. Wouldn’t recommend if towing or if you have a big rig. To get to hot springs go into the rancho and park at the north end of the beach. Impossible to drive all the way to the hot springs so no point in risking your vehicle. 25 min walk. When we got to the pools at low tide they were too hot to go into anyways. Not worth it considering the long drive

Very worth the visit. We parked at the beach at Rancho San Cosme and made the walk to the hot springs as we didn’t want to take our truck bed camper on the “road”. Followed directions in original post exactly and took about 25 minutes to walk to hot springs. Arrived and left during low tide, between around noon to 3 pm. Amazing experience to get to visit the hot springs out in middle of nowhere and we didn’t see a single other person out there.

NOTE: THIS MUST ONLY BE ATTEMPTED AT VERY LOW TIDE! High clearance and 4x4 also required.
