Border Ghana into Togo | Customs and Immigration

Ghana side very easy. Relaxed and friendly at customs and immigration. 30mins with CDP stamp and some good chats.

Togo side immigration wanted equivalent of 55k cfa to pay in cedis (1200) for the 35k VOA and wouldn’t budge. Hung around for an hour and managed to change some money with a local (gave them a good deal in front of the police to spite them). After handing over CFA had to then wait 45mins for the head honcho to come and process the visa. Wasn’t a ‘bad’ border but just a waste of everyone’s time. Perhaps being a Saturday didn’t help.

quiet and relaxed border. they take their time on both sides.
it's not possible to get the 7transit visa. it costs 35000 and you need pictures.

Togo to Ghana: very easy process to get your exit stamp with friendly officers. Almost no other people were around, so everything goes fast. Only the Togolese customs asked for a small tip after checking our bags, but also stayed very friendly.

Was not possible to get the 10k 7 day visa, they said. Ended up getting 35k visa after a discussion. It was worth a try! Official website for Togo visas actually says that all VOA are 7 day temporary visas for 15k CFA that have to be extended.

Fast, friendly and easy border.
35k cfa for 15 day multiple entry visa.
There are no money changers and they only take cfa!
Road to kpalime is bad but if you've made it this far it won't be a problem.
Customs is a few km down the road

Ghana > Togo. French passports.
Friendly staff but very slow !
Here it's only immigration. Customs are located 4km further.
Visa for Togo available here : 2 weeks - several entries- 35k (if you want the visa 25k you have to go to the border close to Lome)

Really REALLY slow border but friendly. The guy how checked our car´s documents asked for monney (2000 FCFA). We just denied and left the border. Welcome to Togo !

7 day visa on arrival not available. Nor is 15 day single entry. Only visa available is 15 day multi entry for 35k CFA.

Togo to Ghana
Only immigration here, customs is few km earlier so if you need to stamp your carnet take care of it earlier.

Relatively easy and very relaxed crossing from Ho to Kpalimé. 7 days visa available for 10 000 CFA upon entry (5km after Ghana customs).

Ghana side perfectly paved, Togo side bad but feasible, rainy season might make it complicated.
