I was desperate to escape the rain (hurricane season) and asked if I could pitch my tent behind the restaurant. It was fine (but I’m not sure if it hadn’t been pouring). There was a small roof. I locked my bicycle to my tent and woke up to someone trying to take it. Don’t think esquintla is the safest place. Just make sure you lock your stuff up
