There’s a maze of dirt roads on this hill. We drove around for a while during sunset looking for a good spot to pitch out tents. Lickily, we had no wind where we stayed when we were there. Great view!

Lots of good options up here. Pick your spot. Flat, not windy and warmer than in town. Also, it snowed in town but not up here at the campsite! We visited the museum right before closing time last night and then came to the spot, only a 2 minute drive. Two track, low clearance dirt tracks everywhere. Pick one. Nice views of the lake.
Report Check-Ingreat overnight indeed. with high clearance you can follow the road to a final parking 300m from the shore
This is a perfect boondocking location. But please remember that you are responsible for keeping it that way. Bury your shit and take your toilet paper with you. This is quickly becoming disgusting from those who leave these things behind. Just DO NOT!
Report Check-InGood place to stay if you want to be near to El Calafate, no wind protection, but luckily we had very little wind
Report Check-InGreat spot! It’s very open, but feels private since not many people pass by here. Us and our fellow van friends stayed here for several days over New Years without an issue! We saw a couple of horseback riding groups come by in the morning, that’s all. If it’s windy, it’s very windy… there were some pleasant days though! We had service with Claro, too.
Report Check-InThere is a maze of soft roads all over this hill. We drove up here in a camper van as the sun was setting and rode around for a while exploring. We had 2 tents and a van and found a great spot with a view. We were lucky and had no wind. Had the wind started blowing I get the feeling out tents would not have held up well being that the ground was super soft
Report Check-InBest place for camping next to the town in Calafate, truly amazing view. We move a couple steps north to the bushes from the coordinates and found great shelter for the wind. Stayed at that place for 2 nights and just saw other tourist horse riding... PS: the tent is not visible at street level (felt more secure) and we went to the museum’s bathroom for drinking water (without actually entering to the exhibits and paying)..
Report Check-InBert Nice over view but you have to have some luck on your side because of the wind! In de morning we had extreme wind and it was difficult to pack our rooftop tent. Nevertheless it's a great spot with an amazing view!
Report Check-InBig grassy area overlooking the lakes. No wind protection but we didn't have any wind. Nobody bothered us.
Report Check-InStayed here after visiting Perito Moreno. Not far outside of town. But very quiet. Windy at times, but still could Pop up the camper
Report Check-InExactly as described. Parked here for a quick night. Rained all night and road was fine in the morning. No wind protection. Luckily no wind for us.
Report Check-InBeautiful spot on top of the hill overlooking the city on one side and the lake and mountains on the other. We drove over a bit towards the lake to be out of sight from the houses and the road. Very peaceful and beautiful if there's no wind. Big grassy area. The only one stopping by was a group of horse riders. Btw. the ice museum you see from up here has free open wifi even in their parking lot.
