I don’t know why people complain about the vibe? It’s such a nice and quiet place with amazing view at Chimborazo.

Yes, its 5$ pp - but like almost everywhere in Ecuador for a Campground.

Staff is friendly, super clean toilets, good wifi (we even got it in the parking lot). Firepits, Restaurant, walking and climbing trails.

It also wasnt windy, the campground is surrounded by mountains.

If you don’t want to wildcamp and are looking for a non windy place - Definitely recommended!

We didn’t like the vibe here. 7$pp feels too much for what it is. They want 5$ pp + 2$pp for shower, didn’t let us use only the shower. Anyway, while we were in the shop, a local came and asked for a price - 8$pp for a room (40$pp for gringos) and 1$ for shower.

Nice place for camping
Beutifull vew of Chimborazo volcán

Good vibes and great views. We parked up high in the large flat lot near the highway, near the artesanial shop, not down below where it said camping. In the morning, the owner of the artesanial shop asked for a donation. No fixed rate. Excellent access for the climbing in the upper portion of the canyon. We used the outhouse restrooms next to the camping parking lot.

update: the man who checked us in and told us it was $5 for a camp spot, kitchen access and shower (and walked me to the shower) tried to tell us we needed to pay $2 pp extra for the shower we took the day before. We refused.

The place had a crappy vibe to begin with and they're clearly dishonest. go to a diferent spot

$5pp to put your tent in a field with acess to a bathroom, hot-ish shower, and a "kitchen" space that is just an interior spot with a sink.
They have a restaurant and rooms for rent for $40 pp in a seemingly unheated but aestethically cute little house. the rooms come with 3 meals.

Honestly, there are tons of free spots to throw your tent in this area and unless you need the amenities, you might as well go elsewhere. We just got caught in a freezing rain storm.

It's a nice campground next to the canyon, but the behavior of the staff was off-putting. We entered and asked how much it would be and she said $5, but when we gave her $10 and asked her for the change she suddenly insisted it would be $5 per person, so better have exact change. We then insisted that she would at least offer a shower for that price and she did open up a room with a nice hot shower.

They do have relatively fast WiFi.

If you don't want to pay and can handle the altitude, just drive further to the Chimborazo visitor center and either stay there on the parking lot or drive a bit further and you can find multiple exits from the main road into the plains where you can basically camp anywhere (not sure if allowed or not, but we didn't have any problems).

I did not stay here but I stop half km down where there is the sign for "La Chorrera". You ask permis to the owner "Segundo" to stay overnight and there is no problem to stay there for free. I drove Up and found a flat spot to park my Combi. close to the Road but quiet at night. Good opción for free if you want to go down to rockclimb or just walk to the waterfall.

Highly recommended! Still $3 per car or tent. Amazing views of the Chimborazo, use of toilet/sinks included, but the best part is the canyon right next to the site. It's a short downhill hike into a beautiful crevasse with waterfalls where you can do some climbing and walk along a trail. Don't miss this.
