Description

The furthest designated camping area along FR 525. There are about 20 sites (or more) and many of them feel like you get some privacy although you are within earshot of the other spaces. There are porta poties.
With big rigs here, we can confirm it is ok for big rigs in good weather at least.
No fires, ever

Latest Check-Ins

Nolan - bigger on the inside… many spaces, and goes further than you might think. Busy but not crowded and relatively easy to find a spot we liked. We had to get past two large vehicles to get to the south east part - then we were alone in an area for 3 or 4 rigs.

Att - 2 bars LTE - ok with booster

Report Check-In

It’s more like a group camping area and was pretty full on a Wednesday night. If you leave your site don’t expect to get it back. Unfortunately, someone had a loud generator that they turned on at 7am which kind of ruined the peaceful setting for us. We had good views and a relatively flat spot. It was convenient to hiking trails and free. Slow AT&T, sometimes it works and sometimes it didn’t (even with boosting) so assuming it’s due to available bandwidth.

Report Check-In

Free spot with amazing Mountain View. Some folks running their generators but space enough to find a quieter spot. 3 out of 4 bars (5G) connectivity with Verizon. We took the dirt road (~3miles) from north with large RV as we did the beautiful Fay Canyon trail before arriving. Road was good enough when dry. Looking forward to the sunrise.

Update: When you stay here do the Doe Mountain Trail, it’s phenomenal. Went to the Palatki Heritage Site as well which was interesting.

Report Check-In

Got there in the afternoon and picked a nice spot easily as it was not crowded during the Sedona's "dead" season. Will come back again. The road was not bad at all even it has been raining lightly for the past few days.

Report Check-In

It is allowed to camp in this area. Probably 20 spaces. You can’t see how far back it goes from the road. There are porta poties here since it is very obvious people don’t know how to bury their poop.

Report Check-In

Nice spot in Nolan Camping area. Spot tucked in off the road as you go to the back.

Beautiful free camping place in the Cocoonino National Forest (Red Rock Country). There are 3 other campsites on the Road 525, from the 89a. This one is furthest from the road and closer to the hiking slopes further north. Network 2 bars. Dusty path but very well maintained. Referred place by the Visitor Center of Sedona. Wonderful landscape.

Magnifique paysage.

Let me just start out by saying, if you’re planning on coming to Sedona in the busier months, it would be less of a hassle to book a camp spot ahead of time at one of the other camp grounds. Trying to get a spot at one of these dispersed campgrounds was time consuming and very difficult as they were all packed full. We ended up having to ask a couple to just share the spot they were in because we had no other option for the night.

Nolan’s camp ground was a very nice spot otherwise. It’s pretty far down the service road, so there are amazing views of the rock formations surrounding Sedona and it’s great for star-gazing because there is basically no light pollution this far out. 10/10 area, as long as there are spots open 😅

Even with how busy it was though, most people were completely quiet by 8:30, and we didn’t hear anybody all night. We woke up at around 7:30 and left, and it seemed like most people were still sleeping by then.

The service road leading down to Nolan’s was a bit rough, but manageable for any car that has a bit of clearance. Don’t think 4x4 is required at all unless it is forecasted to rain. Then I can see the mud being a problem. Otherwise, I saw most SUVs and even a couple cars plowing down the road no problem.

Also wanted to share that if you do camp at Nolan’s, you can take a .25 mile walk NE and there is a lovely little lake with some beautiful wildflowers growing this time of year. It was very beautiful and nobody was there, so we spend sunset there and then went back to the camping area.

Overall, I loved this spot, but I also feel like we were pretty lucky to even find anything available here, so keep that in mind.

A bit bigger than Greasy Spoon but get here early if you want a spot. Campers show up & spread out quickly. Sedona, why have you shut down the individual campsites?! :(

Before you come out here, please read the rules at the beginning of the road and follow them. 🙏 Thank you. I've seen a few people coming in no camping areas as well already who are not following that or the other rules. This is the last dispersed camping site. If everything was full everywhere before and this is full, please do not camp in no camping location. What you do affects all of us. Please try to remember that. Also, there are no fires allowed anywhere. Don't be that guy 👍. Alright, I'm done, for now. I just don't want to lose the few camping areas we have left because of people being selfish. Other than that, this place has been ok. The view is nice, and there are hiking trails close by. The road into this camping area is quite rocky, unlike all the ones before it. If you have a good lift and go slow, you should be ok. I wouldn't want to do it in the rain, though. I added photos from my site.

Report Check-In

The most northerly open camping spot on FS525. The government has closed off all but 8 spots along the road- meaning that all are always packed. Views from here are spectacular. But people crammed on top of each other, loud music, barking dogs, all conspire to make this a place of desperation, not a destination. Verizon signal spotty but available. I would not recommend this area at all because of over-management by the government. I won’t come back to Sedona area again.

Report Check-In

Dispersed camping off of FS 525. Pretty crowded but mostly flat. Lots more camping along the road to get here. Need to camp in designated sites and no fires. Treat this place well and they will keep it open.

Report Check-In

Great spot but very popular. Lots of people and pretty loud at that. Lots of people coming in late at night too!

Report Check-In

This is the last spot on 525 to camp legally. All other sites have been shut down. Very busy now, don’t expect any privacy

Report Check-In

Three bars T-mobile, dog friendly, must have four wheel when rainy for grisly red sand even when closed still can get in, private, distant quiet neighbors and no other amenities

Report Check-In

This is one of the places still open for camping. Known as Nolan. It is more sprawling and privacy than others I would say. Has trees scattered about. Getting in isn't the smoothest. Maybe not for big fancy rigs.

Report Check-In

This spot has a fire ring and enough space for two 4-person tents. I'm here on Easter weekend, and although it's very busy, it was quiet all evening and night until about 6:30-7am when everybody started packing out with their loud vehicles. The views are spectacular!

Report Check-In

lots of spots to park in, the entrance to the area from the road is a little rough but we were able to make it in a 25 foot skoolie. we stayed for a couple days, lots of people in and out. we wanted to stay a little closer to Sedona but this area was VERY crowded and this pull out was the first one we saw that wasn't packed with other rigs, coming from 89a to the south. lots of established fire rings and walkable to a nice little lake called Nolan tank, although it was almost empty when we were there.

Report Check-In

This turnout has enough room for big rigs. The road continues on for about 1/3 mile and ends at the lip of a ridge. The road to the ridge is rough for big rigs. There are many spots in here. 3 bars of cell service. It is just under 6 miles from 89a.

Report Check-In

This road gets pretty packed on the weekends. Best thing about this spot is the panoramic view. We also have Internet (t-mobile) service.

Report Check-In

One of the many large pullouts on FR 525. Free, no amenities. Arrive early because when we first arrived at 18h on a Wednesday night expecting it to not be very busy, it was hard to find a non-occupied spot on the entire FR 525 road. Ended up having to share with multiple large rigs.
