Latest Check-Ins

As described. Free for 8 days, must check in. Only 6 spots I think but was pretty empty in early January. Looks like people come here to hunt but we weren’t bothered by noise.

Report Check-In

It’s a nice place, but there is a truck company 24h working super close, so it’s noisy.

Report Check-In

Easy to get to. Noise from plant acress the street not too bad. No flies. Great for a free stay!

Report Check-In

car camping in spot 1.
the day was hot, but night was cool and comfortable.
pit bathrooms are by the entrance to the wlm and a few inside.
the ground is sand and loose dirt.
it was a very calm place, and I loved driving around the wildlife management area, which seems to have additional camping spots. I saw great blue herons, ducks, coots, sandpipers, turkeys, and even a turtle.
There is the factory across the street and a train track, but they weren't loud enough to bother me.

Report Check-In

We shared site 2 with the resident rooster. So in addition to the noise from the highway and the constant noise from the operations on the other side of the highway, we had our rooster crowing from 1st light to sun up. As another poster said - don't stay here if you're looking for quiet.

Everything you need is in Overton, a long walk / short drive away.

Report Check-In

We arrived around 1 pm and all of the sites were taken. One couple said they were leaving so we waited for their site. We were glad we came down here instead of camping on the mesa because it was a windy night. Overall, it is a decent spot. There is factory and train noise, but the sites are equipped with picnic tables and shelters, big-rig friendly, and somewhat sheltered from the wind.

Report Check-In

all descriptions about the surroundings and offerings are accurate. There were at least 3 open spots when I arrived around 10pm. noise from the plant started about 6:30am, not loud, just present occasional truck noise. Worked for me as I was passing through.

Report Check-In

Great little spot to sleep for the night before we hike Valley of Fire in the morning. Easy to get to in our 26ft camper. There's a firepit, grill and picnic table at each site (that we drove past). We got here around 11PM and there were plenty of spots available. 5g for AT&T and Verizon

Report Check-In

i just arrived and I thought all the spots were taken but there's one with just afire pit right up front and right by the hwy. I wasn't picky bc its getting dark and I needed a place. its perfect! I'll probably move tomorrow anyway.

Report Check-In

Free boondocking, but full. Camping limit is 8 days.

Report Check-In

Adding that this campsite is right next to the highway AND there is some sort of a silica processing plant/mine on the other side of the road, so it is neither quiet nor dark here.

During weekdays, there is constant noise including the beeps and honks of trucks backing up. From 5:30-7-ish as they close there is an intermittent siren. Even at night, there's still a constant hum/generator kind of sound. And the bright lights never completely turn off.

It was a one-nighter for me, but perhaps others who are less interested in quiet and stars will find the shade and table worth it.

Report Check-In

Picnic tables, shelters, and a bit of shade from shrubs and occasional palo verde trees. No toilets, but there is a dumpster.

Currently, half of the sites are closed due to COVID restrictions. I arrived on a Friday at noon and got the only open spot.

Report Check-In

Great free spot. We arrived late and still manged to find an empty spot. It is a very beautiful area.

Report Check-In

Looked nice but only 7 spots available and all full. I wouldn’t bet the farm that you can grab a spot. We couldn’t.

Report Check-In

Good spots with picnic tables, fire rings and shelters. Also hotter than the sun. Get the fans going as it was 40°C at 9 at night. It said check in at the kiosk but we didn't see one nor did we meet anyone.

Report Check-In

About 6 private campsites, a nice enough place, but be warned... This is a designated duck hunting spot and gunshots rang through the air starting at 6am (dawn) and contined heavily for a couple hours. Thought I might need a high vis vest for making coffee in the morning but all was fine :)

Report Check-In

Great official spots for max 14 days with fire-rings and picknick tables
