Description

Unfortunately no a good experience for us.
We shipped a car in by container from Greece, and this has lead to a lot of problems, at lot of delay and a lot of additional costs (demurrage) as they are not an actual aduana agent (!!). They use partners for that, which withdrew from the assignment as there had been a drug related incident in one of Cevertams containers before us, leaving us with a car stuck in port. Cervertams 'advice', after the container was already 5 days in port, was to reship to another country! We hooked up with Enrique Reyes ourselves, as they are actual agents and could preform the formalities.
We only got our car when we were in a taxi to the police station to file a report for blackmail, that they took us to the warehouse to release our car. I understand that every company needs to earn, and needs to protect their interests, but they went waaayyyyy overboard in trying to dodge any costs for their account.
It's a long story, but the short advice is to certainly NOT use them for containers. If you want to use them for roro is up to you. Other reviews are good, but we have seen what happens if it doesn't go as planned.

Luis, Claudia and the rest of the Team were extremely helpful with the whole shipping process. It was Luis that got the ball rolling and finally got our Truck on the right ship. We can recommend them 100%

Report Check-In

Not the Best Experience and I definitely wouldn't recommend them.

We contacted Luis many weeks before our arrival, whilst we were still in Colombia. He was keen at first then Communication became harder. We Questioned if he actually wanted the job and his attitude improved so we continued with our arrangement. At first, all was good and we were taken to get our TIP's by one of his employees, Sarah, who was very pleasant. I was then taken to the port for the vehicle's drugs search. Upon arrival, the plan changed on several occasions and I was not informed which left me in total confusion as to what was happening. It felt rushed and Claudia was wanting me to simply throw all my contents back in the vehicle so she could get back to the office. I mentioned to Luis afterwards that he should keep his clients informed of what is happening and he didn't seem to think it was important. After the Customs and drugs, searches Luis asked us to pay the bill ( Camper and Motorcycle 800USD Cash only ) We paid and this was a mistake on our part. Luis's interest in our vehicle, which was still in the port, disappeared. He had promised to be present during the entire process and this quickly changed to " I will drop you at the port and you can sort it out " I insisted he remain with me during the collection process and he very reluctantly agreed. Whilst getting the vehicle out of the port there were two issues. One was the procedure and the other was his documents. It took me 4 hours to get past the checks. During this time Luis was nearby but refused to try and resolve the issues basically saying it was not his problem anymore. Harsh words were exchanged after I left the port and Luis drove off refusing to talk to me. So in Summary. Luis allocates a certain amount of time per customer. If you go over this time or you have any problems he is quite happy to abandon you. If you choose to use him I would suggest that you agree to pay after the vehicle is out of the port and not make the same mistake as us. Would I recommend them.....Definitely Not

NEVER USE CEVERTAM. WE HAVE BEEN FIGHTING TO GET OUR VAN BACK FOR 1 YEAR. USE EMILIO FROM ENRIQUE REYES

Report Check-In

We shipped from Cartagena Colombia with Ana Rodriguez and used this agent. We worked with Luis and Claudia. They were fantastic. Everything was very smooth and organized. Boat arrived Wednesday and we had our camper Friday evening. We paid $450 all in for a vehicle weighing less than 5000kg (fees were $100 extra if you weighed more, so be creative on the weight you give, no one checks). On leaving the port you usually have to queue 2-3 hours to exit. This was an unpleasant surprise for us.

The cost for us : 500 USD and not 300 as mention before. May be due to custom cost or price of the véhicule.

We shipped our Sprinter Van from Cartagena to Veracruz by RoRo and did all bureaucracy with Cevertam.
Luis and the ladies work professionally and straightforward and told us everything we needed to know. Also, Luis speaks good english.
The total costs in Mexico is US$ 380, plus the Banjercito guanrantee (US$ 200-400) and fee (MX$ ~1.200) extra.
The process of the authorities, however, is slow and inefficient but apparently it varies depending on whether there is a weekend/holiday and (probably) work enthusiasm of the officials. Our car disembarked on the 22nd and we got it on the 28th.

GOOD TO KNOW:
- Shipping during periods around Xmas & Easter is always a bad idea.
- Take all originals of your documents and car papers with you.
- If you have special medicine, make sure to either have an original prescription for it on you or take it with you by plane.
- Take ALL valuables with you by plane as the car and the key will spend a couple of days at the port.
- Be very, very, very patient while all the process. Don't question the procedure to much. It avoids headache.
