Zimbabwe
Beautiful located in the mountains overlooking some green flats. Reachable only by foot in an 2.5 to 3 hours walk from the Chimanimani park base camp. The hut itself is very nice but not much more then a shelter. Mattresses are available. For blankets and pillows ask for a key at the reception (Base camp).
The hut itself is free but the park fee is 12$ pp plus 10$ for the car overnight.
Water can be found some 200m in westerly direction from the hut.
We spent a beautiful new years night on the veranda.

Looks like the renovation never happened.
It’s very basic but does the trick perfectly !
Matresses, tables and chairs only up there, bring the rest.
We met the rangers just before sunset when they came back to their hut nearby. They gave us firewood, an extra « mattress » and a pot to boil water on the fire.
Be ready to wake up early as you cannot blind the windows, the sun woke us up at 5:45. The beds are for sure not comfortable but we really enjoyed the experience.
We made a big fire before getting to bed, everything we brough smells but we had a not too cold night !
Report Check-InHut is currently under renovation. There are wooden beds and worn mattresses so bring all the rest. Rangers stay in a small hut close by and will be able to provide firewood.
Report Check-InQuite a good hike up which took me 3.5 hours but well worth it! Very basic hut, fireplace, toilets that don’t work and some old blankets. Bring your sleeping bag, food and water and don’t forget the matches. Water can be found either down the hill to the left when you reach the open grass, or going west for an easier path to a small stream to refill, enjoy!
