Regional headquarters of Sura(mericana) Seguros. Apparently the only place around here you can extend your vehicle insurance.
Purchased one month extra insurance with minimal fuss (ignoring wild goose chase to get here).
I was within my 90 day limit so they didn't require authorization, but you would probably want to extend your TIP first anyway.

Report Check-InSuccessful SOAT for three months! Came here with another gringa and we both were able to get insurance for our USA plated vehicles. We waited a long time, then realized just go up to window 5, 6, or 7 when they are open. Took about 5 or 7 minutes after we figured that out. We also were getting it for our spouses, so you can get insurance if you're not the main name on the vehicle. Buen viaje!
Pro tip: free coffee in the vending machine.
Report Check-InJust to add - we struggled to find insurance in the city. In the end we contacted Ana Rodriguez from when we shipped and she processed us another 3 months (minimum) for 230.000.
Report Check-InLady was very friendly, but said that they no longer insure foreign vehicles.
Report Check-InTried to extend our SOAT here but they did not want to cooperate. The lady said: All services regarding the SOAT will only be handled online. Since it is not possible for us to enter a German number plate to the virtual systems we need to look for an other office with personal assistance.

We were able to purchase 3 months of insurance for our car. 185,000cop, about $65. The girl at reception immediately tried to send us somewhere else but we asked to speak to someone else. Be insistent!
