Lovely small campground at the top of a bluff overlooking Santa Cruz Lake. It's a BLM campground, and $7/night. Very near Chimayo, and makes a convenient place to stay if you're traveling there. There's a bit of a dirt road to get here, but it was in good shape when I visited.
The best campsites have views out over the lake, which are really lovely. Sites have shade structures and picnic tables, and there is a vault toilet. No plugins.
There's also a hiking trail down to the lake level, where you can walk around the lake and find a shady spot to relax. I loved it! (-:

Camping costs $9. Gorgeous view, very quiet, and has a pit toilet, fire rings, covered picnic tables, and garbage cans at each spot.
Report Check-InVery nice well-maintained BLM campground with beautiful views all around . It was really nice to have our own trash can which staff emptied frequently. The bathroom is OK, not too trashy. Talked to BLM staff and he said the temperature is usually hot (about 90 degrees) come May, but this year, weather was perfect. Near Chimayo as mentioned. About a 30 min drive to Santa Fe.
Report Check-InBeautiful views of the lake at the first 3-4 campsites, but the others further down are also a short walk to the lookout. We came in on a Saturday night and the first 4 were taken, but by Sunday afternoon two had already cleared. Best bet would be to come on a weekday for the better view. Pretty windy up there!
Report Check-InGreat little campground with beautiful views. Well taken care of by staff who visit frequently, level spots, trash cans, etc.
Report Check-InNice stay, beautiful views over lake. Pit toilet is slightly more stinky than most. Garbage cans at each site. $9 or $4.50 with senior or access pass.
Report Check-Inbit of a bumpy rd(1 mile) to get to this bml camp. But what a view! Mountains everywhere around and the beautiful lake just beneath. First night we stayed at no 1. best views and sunset.Due to strong winds we camped in the back the 2nd night. Payed 9$ p.night. The place is clean and well maintained so not paying is a shame in our opinion
Report Check-InStayed here one night in december 2021. we were the only ones there - the rates are $9 a night now, I’ll be honest…we didn’t pay…I didn’t have the correct cash. No one else was there. The view is beautiful but of course it is winter and was very windy at the top of the bluff and it hailed. Worth it for the amazing views. Dirt road but we were with 2WD (pickup truck) and fine. Pit toilets were stinky didn’t avail myself.
Report Check-InShowed up mid-week and was told we could stay at one of the upper picnic spots as only one other camper there. Nice park with lake
Report Check-InStayed at the main campground. Off season. Busy lake Fishing trout. Main campground closed butstayed in lovely overlook. Better then other sites. Twisty road in. Have 25 foot trailer. Would not fit longer. May not fit if busy.
