Description

Very well-run campsite with large sites and cute thatched roof dome huts. Ablutions very clean and well built, lots of shade, bar and restaurant, creatively built furniture and roofed sitting areas throughout. Paid 85 pp including car. Braai facilities and free wood provided. Situated beside walking path to a natural spring, Mmakgama ruins and Makgaba Fossils, which took us two hours round trip and was a great way to get out of the car for a nice walk! A two hour drive round trip from an incredible panoramic viewpoint of the Makgadigadi Salt Pans. Adventure activities can be arranged including zip line, interactive marimba music, quad biking, beach buggy rides and land yacht trips. Great way to experience the central Botswana

Report Check-In

Friendly front of house staff member Elizabeth showed us around, she was lovely and helpful. Bar serves cold beers at P25.
The campsite is in the middle between the restaurant and holiday huts/staff accommodation, it feels a bit like it should be a car park and everyone constantly walks right through the campsite to get from A to B. It is a place that seem to cater more for large groups/parties instead of individual overlanders. It was a bit of everything but nothing great in particular. If you are in the area already and have nowhere else to go, then stop over, but I would definitely not travel out of my way to camp there. The previous comments of luxury ablutions are overstated and not accurate. One can see that the facilities were intended to be interesting and quirky, but it has gone past the point of rustic to feeling run down/broken. Ladies toilet had no seat so could not sit down, the showers inside ladies ablutions had warm-ish water. Very dark inside, and not very clean. They have built a new shower block outside but it was not in use. Camping P110 pp and they provided fire wood for free. Also a large cement worktop next to braai so a lot of workspace. Light and power, and tap at campsite. Free wifi inside restaurant area. Lots of noise can be hear from staff talking loudly to each other and using their phones, also noise from nearby main road and village can be heard clearly.

as said before, beautifully created rustic camp with little domed huts and small campsite. you can easily spend a two days here playing puttputt, taking a ride on the zipline, going for a walk to the nearby springs and fossils, but be aware that this is elephant country and we did come across some elephants while walking.
but the greatest asset is the owners Andries and Jean who helped us get the car off the pan after we got stuck and made us feel very welcome in the 3 weeks that we were here. Andries helped us with towing the car after we had a mechanical breakdown as well and getting it fixed in Francistown. Andries and Jean were extremely helpful over and above all expectations. thank you, Andries and Jean , for your help and hospitality.

As stated before. Lovely, rustic campsite in a green oasis. The owner Andries and his wife took us to 3 nice viewpoints of the pans. At Kaitshe Enscarpment we had a braai. The campsite offers all you need.

Amazing owners, lovely family, the mini golf course is finished now. Andries took us up to Kaitshe Escarpment - what an amazing spot.

Ablutions were very clean, hot showers, power hook up available, and at some spots a braai stand. As previously mentioned the owner is lovely & the staff were friendly.

Restaurant available, all items reasonably priced however we only had a cold beer.

For us, perfect for a 1 night stop.

Quiet camp offering free WiFi, electric points, 2 small swimming pools, ablutions. The asset of the place is by far ANDRIES the owner. Upon arrival he took us on an amazing drive to the pans and look out. Pula 100p.p.p.n

The price is still BWP 100ppn. To call it a "luxury campsite" (first comment) is a bit exaggerated but to say that it is very noisy from the traffic from the A30 (another comment) is certainly also a bit away from the reality. Andries has built up a small nice green oasis as campsite in the bush. A very small dirt track (If in doubt follow the power line - bigger cars better in the right side) leads about 400 m into the bush. Big rigs have to look out on the premises for some branches (in the worst case Andries will not hesitate to cut a tree...).
WiFi is very good, the restaurant is very stylish and offers nice looks into the remote pan. The stuff in the restaurant is a bit "forgetful".....so it can happen that have forgotten to buy / replace food. If available than the Chicken Schnitzel with chips is really tasty...
A nice stopover on the way Francistown - Orapa

Very nice place!! Lots of shade. Birders paradise, nice ablutions. Friendly staff and a great help from the owner. We had some problems with our camper. The guy has everything we needed. You can do laundry.

The camping area we where was not for staying longer for us, although there was power, braaiarea including firewood and a watertap (water stayed in a small basin only with overflow so many mosquitos around). The place is very childrenfriendly so also very noisy. The nearby road you could hear very well and there was much traffic. In the morning the worker was cleaning the area with an electrical airblower! Noisy too and also the workshop just next to our site. They cleaned for us the toilet and shower from the nearby permanent camper because one ablutionblock had problems with hot water. The washingarea was a little bit messy.
All in all not our favourite place we prefered the bush...

We stayed at Moriti Wa Selemo at the campsite 3 nights. Moriti wa selemo is a very well run accommodation and campsite in the less explored beautifull San Pan (south/east of Makgadigadi saltpans) You find the place on the road from Francistown to Orapa. (130 km West of Francistown) Andries and his wife and THE team gave us a real warm welcome and many tips to fill our days. They all were enthousiastic and helpfull to make our stay a great stay! This is a very nice place also when travelling with children as there is a small pool and a playground and The camp area is inviting and suitable for some exploration on their own. The huts and campsite are very well build by Andries and his wife and the whole of inventive and creative solutions makes it to a place you would like to stay a bit longer.
Quadbikes, motorbikes or mountainbikes are available. And for more fun there is a adventurous zipline. Trips to Some historical sites and the pans can be arranged, also with overnight camping etc etc. Very much recommended to spend 3 or 4 days at least, but also a great overnight address when you are en route. Around 85 pula pp/pn for camping.
