Georgia
Big parking lot next to a cafe bar which looked close while we were there. We were the only ones parking there. There is a lot of police when you turn into the street but no one came. Only some dogs joined us. We had a lot of wind at night and in the morning!
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Parking at the entry of Enguri Arch Dam
Quiet, safe and toilets open at night
Entry fee to visit the dam is 2 Lari p.p.
Not such a nice spot to camp. It’s a parking lot with no special view, even on the dam. But good place to be if you want to visit the dam. The long visit (20 GEL, 2 hours) is great. Plenty of explanations and you’ll see the inside, which will never happen in Europe…
Report Check-InStayed on this parking area away from main road. Very quiet. Lots of begging dogs. Shady and flat. Restaurant not in action. Walked up to Enguri dam past security. It provides 40% of Georgia’s electricity and much of it for free. Apparently gets full in July/August and is at its lowest in Winter. Storm force winds whipped up (only) in middle of night and morning and was incredible. Not suitable for pop-tops and tents. (June) Calm again by 7.30am. There is a good screw water tap next to security. I am sure if asked nicely they would permit a fill up. There is a further constantly running tap without screw further up near abandoned hotel. Lovely cold fresh water.
Report Check-InAs described on previous visits, very very Windy at night, it is still a good quiet spot though. The day time is calm. The Enguri dam is the second highest curved concrete constructed dam in the world, so worth a visit at least.😁
Report Check-InUPDATE - ATTENTION:
In the evening it starts to get windy, which results to be a storm during the night.
@People with a rooftent. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND TO OVERNIGHT HERE! We did not sleep one minute because we feared our rooftent would be ripped off during the storm!!!!!
As described by the others: Big parking lot next to the dam. No other campers so far.
No infrastructure, but quiet and safe place.
Spacious and quite flat parking in front of the Enguri restaurant. We had dinner there which was quite good; nobody bothered us staying for the night, very quiet
Report Check-InCamped in the car park just before the dam security gate. Nice view and safe as there are few security guards just by the gate. Very quit and I also had a company of a dog who stayed with me the whole night after I fed him some food 😃
