Description

ADMIN NOTE: This place is seasonal, check with local authorities if camping is allowed.

This place is NOT free, you must get a permit from the state park office which cost $12. Rangers will drive by and will look for permit posted on your campsite. Dry camping, picnic table, campfire rings.

The state park also has places for rvs with hookups. The site is located 20 min away from Lynchburg and the Jack Daniels distillery. There is plenty of room to camp at this location.

Latest Check-Ins

Turkey Creek Campground near the Boat Ramp. Only one other camper. Difficult to figure out how to pay, the phone number on the entrance sign was disconnected. Lots of spots, not super level, but good for an overnight. Flush toilets and showers, not the cleanest but functional. Two bars of VZ.

Report Check-In

Came to stay here the night, but at 10:30pm a Park Ranger pulled up. Asked for my ID and told me it was a paid site, $12. Told him I didn’t realize it was a paid site. He said if I stayed and didn’t pay an arrest warrant would be put out for “stealing services”. He let me leave, I’m now at the Love’s Truck Stop.

Report Check-In

Small open field surrounded by trees. Close to boat ramp. Part of Tims Ford State Park. Nice spot. Not much privacy. Has picnic tables and fire pits and bathrooms/shower.

Report Check-In

Apparently this place closed in March 2018. Jury is out on whether it's a seasonal thing or not.

Report Check-In

Campground was closed on March 8, 2018

I think it may only be open seasonally April-October

Likely could have parked down by the boat ramp itself but it's pretty un-level, ended up staying at Tims Ford state park down the way, nice but pricey at $28/night

This is a free place to camp but you must get a permit from the state park. The state park also has places for rvs with hookups buy that comes with fees. The site is located 20 min away from Lynchburg and the Jack Daniels distillery. There is plenty of room to camp at this location. We didn't get to the state park in time for a permit and camped on the weekend without seeing a park ranger.
