Description

At around two in the afternoon, it took us two hours to go from Kyrgyzstan to Kazakhstan with a motorbike and car with only two cars waiting in front of us. Getting out of Kyrgyzstan was straightforward. Into Kazakhstan was a bit more work: we needed to get all our bags out of the car to go through x-ray. Arranging the obligatory insurance on the Kazakh side was easy. 15 days for the car was 8,722 KZT, for the motorbike 4,173 KZT. We were able to pay in USD (at a rate of 310 KZT per 1 USD).

we did the "visa extension" here. without car, just as passengers from Kazakh side. We crossed passport control and migration. we explained we want a visa extension, the officer showed us by hand to get out and in again.

we got stamped out, had to hand in the registration paper. we walked out of the border zone, but we did not walk into Kyrgyzstan.

We entered again on the other side, filled out the registration paper, passport control and migration, we got stamped in again, no questions asked.

Took us 30 minutes on 10AM on a Sunday.

Kazakhstan-Kyrgyzstan. Arrived at 11:20, and out by 12. Only the driver was able to go through with the car, passenger had to walk through instead. Walking through took about 5 minutes. Very straightforward, no issues, no bribery requests.

Report Check-In

Very quick crossing 30 mins right through, no inspections, quick spamps, but customs asked for a "present" told them we had nothing.
Boarder control never gave us any documents for our vehical will see on way out of this is an issue.

Really easy border crossing. At 2pm on Tuesday there was no one else there. It took about 30-45 minutes. No one really searched anything, and we didn’t have to pay insurance or anything on Kyrgyzstan border - can get a SIM card for 1GBP as soon as you cross into Kyrgyzstan. An atm there too.

Report Check-In

Came through here again. Kazakh car insurance is 9245 KZT for 15 days in 2018.

Report Check-In

Going from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan was a lot faster. Not even one hour. It might have helped that we were second in line when the border opened at 07h30. Straightforward passport checks. Kazakh customs looked around the car and motorbike, but couldn't really be bothered to check anything. No customs check on the Kyrgyz side. Nothing needed to be paid to get into Kyrgyzstan either.
