Latest Check-Ins

we wanted to go to this spot for the night. but there was a gate, people and it was totally visible from the road.
so we saw a way going down to the lake a bit away to another place and had a pieceful night.
there you can't be seen from the road (i post it on iOverlander as well).

Report Check-In

We passed a gate to enter. Apparently it's a private place but there were many locals and people coming to take pictures. We were there in the weekend and there was no guard. Very weak reception. Almost no shade. Some trash and broken glass around but apart from that it's a really nice spot with a beautiful view.

Report Check-In

We camped here but it was the Easter Weekend and there was a guard asking for 5 USD per car. We still stayed, the view is nice and we also went for a swim (apparently there are no crocodiles on this side of the lake, as there is a fence in the water, who knows if it‘s still there, but we were fine ;) ) the security guard was very nice and brought some firewood. He explained that on weekends and special holidays they now have guards on duty for the fee of 5USD.

Report Check-In

It's a big place directly at the lake with a braai spot. Normally very quite. Some locals pass by but don't disturb us. They are very friendly. On special day, like new year, it's a party place. But they went out if is dark.

Report Check-In

We spent 2 very quiet nights here. 5 km hiking from here to the chapel.

Report Check-In

We were planning to spend the night here, but someone passed by telling us that it was unsafe. He offered to stay in the place close-by called Kyle boat club. He asked $10pp, so we decided to leave as it looked run down. Not sure if it was really unsafe or he just tried to make some money from us. The view from the camp spot is great, just a bit visible.
