He try to help us with a cigar Fabrik Tour, but its christmas Holiday time, most Fabrik were closed till mid january. and AJ Fernandez Charge 20 US$. Julio explain often, that you dont have to buy anything, his wie Branda died 5 years ago, and her Plan was a Safe place for tourists. Julio has a lot of nice starkes. and He love Espresso, but no cigars and no Alkohol.

Report Check-In

We had a great night here and we’re very well looked after by Julio and his staff. We even got the espresso in the morning which was delicious.
My husband ended up losing his wedding ring in the tall grass and Julio had his worker, Memo, come help machete the grass and we eventually found the ring! We also needed to do a small repair on the safety cover of our exterior propane tank. Julio let us use a few of his tools to get the job done.
We did end up buying a cigar as a gift for a friend but Julio was very clear that it was not necessary.
Water, toilet, electricity and wifi, espresso. This is the kind of place and people that makes for good travel memories. Thanks, Julio!

An excellent place to spend the night in Esteli. The owner, Julio is very friendly and loves to chat. They have free wifi and clean bathrooms and the stay is free. Julio even set up an extension cord for us so we had electricity. You can park inside the gated compound which is very safe. They used to have 2 dogs but they have passed. While your there be sure to buy some local Nicaraguan cigars from the shop.

Report Check-In

Nice place to stay near Estelí, they allow us to camp in front of the shop, free WiFi, clean bathrooms and nice talks, you can’t leave Estelí without trying one of theirs cigars ✌️

Report Check-In

Again a very warm welcome from Julio who let us park on his secured parking lot with gate and security guard. Quick visit but very helpful !!

Report Check-In

We were lucky enough to meet Julio and listen to many of his incredible stories. Great spot get a warm welcome to Nicaragua after crossing the border. Julio is soon moving to San Juan, his new house is almost ready, but he's keeping the cigar shop so maybe you could still stay here for the night.

Report Check-In

What a gift to spend two nights at Julio’s business and home. He is an incredible man. He escaped Cuba, lived several years in North Carolina, and now runs a cigar box manufacturing business in Esteli. He does plan to move to San Juan, but if you are in the area, you would do well to stay with him while he’s still here! He genuinely does not want money and doesn’t care if you buy from the store. He enjoys the company of visitors and gives generously in every way he can. He let me use “his wife’s” beautiful dryer (Brenda passed away three and a half years ago and he really misses her); he drove us to dinner at a lovely place called L’Italiano; he took us to get our new SIMs at Tigo; and he even invited us to his apartment for delicious espresso from Miami. We were sad to leave him and hope we can stay in touch.

Everything as described, we just want to add that this really is the perfect stop after/ before a border crossing. What a friendly welcome into Nicaragua for us. Julio is the most gracious host. Like others, he also took us into town to get shopping done and took us around the cigar factory in town. We really enjoyed getting to know him whilst sitting on the porch and rocking on one of the many handmade (by him) rocking chairs. We are missing him already. Plenty of space for any size rig and he can even provide shelter from the rain. We are nearly 4m tall and had no problems!

Report Check-In

We stayed there for two nights for free. At night the gate is closed and there is a guard. The owner is very nice, he gave us wifi, access to drinking water, showed us around his workshop. So we bought cigars in his beautiful shop. The owner kindly showed us around a cigar factory in the center of Esteli.

Report Check-In

Julio is in the process to sell his cigar box factory and to move to San Juan del Sur. Nonetheless, we had a very intresting tour through his place and his supplier's cigar factory in Esteli. Julio enjoys having overlanders and did not want to charge money for our 2 days stay or the tour to Esteli. Good place to stay a few nights with a motorhome.

Report Check-In

As discribed. You must stop here anyway.
Don Júlio is very friendly. Recomended.

Report Check-In

Lovely place to stop. Julio was extremely welcoming and showed us around his cigar box factory and shop. He has lots of interesting stories about his life in Cuba and how he came to end up here. He wanted nothing from us, except to chat and in return offered us a place to stay, toilets, wifi, clean well water to fill our tank and mints. Super nice guy, who has recently lost his wife, but enjoys sharing stories about her and their life together. I would definitely recommend this as a place to stop for the night.

Report Check-In

This place fits the description: the Cuban owner (sadly his wife passed away recently) is very kind and welcomes any overlander. He likes to be paid in stories!
Very safe place, bathroom included (but no more showers). Easy to find. Buying cigars is not mandatory.

Wow wow wow!!! Can't begin to describe what an incredible experience this was for us three travelers with an RV. Both Julio and Brenda are amazing, generous, thoughtful, and kind people! A true joy to converse with and get to know! Brenda also makes mouth watering espressos that she loves to share.
Their property is extremely safe, it's gated there is a guard every and night, and extremely clean too-- loved the bathrooms!!! We came for one night and ended up staying for 3! They are so sweet and their cigars are awesome too! Of course they had no expectation of us to buy anything but we couldn't resist! Soo happy we began our journey in Nicaragua with such amazing people!!

Report Check-In

We cannot say enough good things about our stay here. Julio and Brenda are just AWESOME people and their facility is among the best and most secure that we have stayed at on our trip from the US to Panama and back to the US. Their facility has both water and electricity and is large enough for our 33 foot motorhome. We arrived on 23 Dec 2018 and expected to stay one night before continuing our trip. Unfortunately, we could not start our diesel engine the next morning. Julio contacted some engine mechanic friends and, even though it was Christmas, they responded quickly and fixed us right up. This took several days so we were invited to attend Christmas dinner with Julio and Brenda and the traditional dinner they served was FANTASTIC!!! We enjoyed both the food and the great conversation. Julio drove us to a grocery store in Esteli to pick up some provisions which was a great help. There was no charge for the camp site or any of the services that these great owners provided to us. If you visit, please pick up some cigars, boxes or other memorabilia to show your appreciation.

We have bathroom, water, wifi, and conversation if you want. There is NO charge. Of course, if you buy cigars, we appreciate your business, but purchase is not required! We are gated, with security guard and dogs. For more info, call 8934-7025 or email me at [email protected].

The stay was perfect despite of getting here when Nicaragua wasn´t in its best moment. Julio and Brenda, the owners are very nice people. Willing to help from the very first moment. The place is secure and very clean. There is wifi, water....We spent a good evening chatting with them. They let you stay for free but it is always nice to buy a cigar if possible.

We had a really great time here, chatting with Julio and Brenda, and tasting cigars! They’re really nice and helpful. The security guard, memo, is really nice too! With him, the gates and the dogs, I think it was the safest place we ever stayed ;) plus, the boxes of cigars are really great, good gift or souvenir :)

Didn’t stay the night as we had another plan. But wish we could have. Awesome folks to chat with (ask for Julio and Brenda). Fill water tanks. Hang out. No purchase necessary. Just plan some time to chit chat.
