Enter beach area of the OHV area at Sand Lake Recreation Area. 1.4 miles of beach available for camping. Sign says DAY USE. Camping site host at area entrance was very courteous and said OK to camp on beach away from waterline. Not driven in OHV area after dark. A very exposed place for tents but ideal for big rigs with 4WD. Air down before you start on the sand. Noisy until after sunset due to people enjoying their sand toys. Will need a flag to fly on your vehicle as required per signs.

Very clean! In order to ride the dunes you must have a flag on your vehicle. We stayed for free, but there are established campgrounds that cost. Lots of ATV’s until about 10-11 pm then again at about 9am. Only stayed one night, but would stay here again for sure.
Report Check-InDo not attempt this site unless you have an Oregon off road permit, flag, ETC. A 4WD vehicle would probably conquer the sand- but not the restrictive laws
Report Check-InMy 2 daughters and I spent one night camping here in the trees at the same dunes. Dispersed camping is permitted… 4WD is required to get around on the dunes which is fun! Regular camping near at this site if you want to pay.
Report Check-InDrove our 4x4 right onto the beach and parked between the dunes. Beautiful spot to camp but very noisy until late at night because of people riding their quads through the sand. We have an Oregon ATV permit for our car, but I don’t if that’s a requirement if you want to go on the beach.
Report Check-InWe didn't stay because of hundreds of people driving around with their ATV's. It was very loud.
