A lovely campsite with basic facilities and a grassy area where you can set up camp. Witson and Pearson who look after the camp were really helpful. It's a great stopping place if you're driving from north to south lunangwa. No electricity but there is hand pump borehole for water. k 470 for two people and vehicle. Try and stop at Evans Garden in chitungula village for lovely fresh veg and fruit

Report Check-In

Very calm campsite.
Witson and company will make water hot and put it in the tank for a shower.
The campsite is right on the river bank and has many birds bouncing around above it.
We saw elephant and Puku in the river during the evening.
It was 200K pppn plus 50K for the vehicle and levy.
Make sure you are self sufficient for electricity and food. There is a hand pump for water on site but one will likely want to filter it before use.
Once google takes you off the D104, just follow the signs as they work better than any of the navigation systems we had.
We would definitely recommend this campsite.

Mike Sakala and Paul Banda were our friendly efficient hosts. The amenities are clean and well kept. The camp is located on the river and we had breath taking sunset and sunrise views! Mike shared and demonstrated their fishing techniques with the self woven baskets with us. We thoroughly enjoyed our night here and highly recommend the camp.

Absolutely stunning campsite on the river with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Lovely boma with wooden furniture and a fire made for each campsite at night. The ablutions work fine, but as mentioned below could do with a little attention. We had a lovely chat with the 3 gentlemen managing the camp and the really appreciated the inputs and feedback. According to Witton, the camping fees are used to support the community clinic and school. Great spot, highly recommended.

What an incredible spot on the Luangwa river. Camping only, amazing helpfull staff. Firewood available. Hot showers made for you. They heat up water and climb a tree to fill the tank. Just loved it. No noise lther than nature. Beautiful sunrise and sunsets over the river.

A good stop over between Mfuwe and the NLNP. Basic ablutions but clean. Helpful staff. Very beautiful evening and morning view of the river.

Report Check-In

Nice place, well maintained. The caretakers are very friendly, they even bring hot water in the morning. Perfect for a stopover or visiting Luambe NP.

Campsite is open from may untill november. It has a nice view on the river, we saw elephants crossing and it the campsite is nice and quiet :-) No baboons trying to take your stuff, which is nice. People are friendly! They light a fire for you, if you like. We really liked it here. Shower and toilet available, with hot water if you want. There's a borehole for water. We paid 350 kwacha.

Report Check-In

Small place on the river. Run by locals. We payed 200pp + 30 service + 20 car.
On one hand side of you think of supporting the community the price is ok. But on the other hand side it’s definitely too much. It’s only a place in the middle of nowhere with a hut made of gras with a toilet, the shower was not usable because it was crowded by fireflies.

signposted off the D104, a great place to spend a night while on the road. beautiful views over the river and basic amenities provided by very friendly staff. watch out for elephants during the night!

The name is “Kamukonzo”!
Otherwise same as below, nice place at the river, with hot shower, and flush toilet.
A big group of elephants gathered at the other bank of the river in the evening. They crossed the river after dark, and went back the next morning.

Good community campsite run by Micheal.

Paid 200kwa each plus 30Kwa for vehicle and 20Kwa for "service". (Total 650kwa for 3)

Free firewood and starter, hot shower and flushing western toilet, combined with an excellent river view and brilliant sunrise makes this a very pleasant over night stay for transit between North and South Luangwa.

They also have a bar with cold beer and cold drinks (25kwa for a 375ml Mozi).

Beautiful spot with view over the Luangwa river. Very friendly and welcoming men who are running this place. There was a flood a month ago and they are renovating it now. There is a clean flushing toilet and a cold shower at the moment but they are working on a hot shower and dining area/bar. We payed 150 kw p.p. and 20kw for service and 10kw for the car. We saw hippos, puku and a lot of birds. We can really recommend this place!

Report Check-In

Good for a night. Very quiet. They asked 150 kw per person, plus 10 for ‘service’ (sweeping, getting water) and 20 for car (30 for a car with trailer). We asked for a discount and paid 250 kw for 2 people in total.

They sell beer and soda.

Report Check-In

Ok place, nothing to do when there though. No animals in or around the river.
Price is crazy, nice guys, felt bad haggling down to something more sensible, but we have too else next time will be $30, then $50 etc
(Camping in Lusaka is $5 with satellite tv, lounge, washing machine and Lusaka property price etc as a baseline If they’d like more visitors they need some activities and a realistic camping price so people stay more than one night.

Report Check-In

It is sign posted Kamkonzo campsite and a really nice setup, a bar with cold drinks even (kw20 for cold beers), view over the very low river. We paid Kw150pp after asking for a discount.

Report Check-In

Community campsite run by friendly locals. Nice campsite on the river with great view. Every spot has a firepit and wood is for free. Clean abolution with luke warm water as they make it warm by putting ground water in a barrel that is heated by a campfire. Price is 20$ now, but it is negotiable.

Great place to relax after driving through South Langwa and Luambe. The campsite is beautiful. It's very well maintained and clean. The man are very nice and helpful.

Wonderful, quiet setting under shade trees on the river. Campsite opened in 2016 and still appears brand new. A few nice guys live next to it and do a great job taking care of it. One built a fire for us. There's a borehole water pump on site which provides potable water. Open in dry season. $10 pppn.

Report Check-In

It is a beautiful campsite with a stunning view over the Luangwa Valley. It has a tiny wooden fence so no elephants can come to the camp. The place is very well maintained. With an old car battery the guys even put some lights on at night. There is a flush toilet, hot water and you can fill up your drinking water at their pump.
