Description

Nice coffee tour with zip line. Coffee farm just outside of Coban. We were allowed to camp in grassy parking area at center of complex for 50Q (25pp) per night. Tours are Q75 per person. Our Tour Guide spoke good English, and we really enjoyed the experience. Clean bathrooms with flush toilets. If you love coffee, a must see/do.

Nice campspot - 50Q. We did the coffee tour and zipline, both are great. Really recommend.

Report Check-In

Fab tour of the Chicoj Coop. 75Q. each person . You dont need to book, just take a taxi from the city centre (Coban) for 50q. Should not cost more.. the taxi drivers will say maybe 100q. This is way too much...

Report Check-In

We highly recommend this campsite! quiet place and very welcoming staff. plenty of room and excellent cafe/restaurant. hot shower. the caffe tour is a must do. Don't go to Coban without stopping here!

Report Check-In

Tour is amazing and a must do if you are Coban. We missed the camping because of the weather but the site looks really great. Description of the tour see previous comments.

The coffee tour in English for both of us at 11am was very interesting (75Qpp, time as desired, harvest time from Nov-Apr). It is a cooperative (one of 42 in Guatemala) that exports Orgañic Café and cardamon. We liked the coffee very much, very fruity, floral and it has a rather light cup.
Unfortunately, the espresso roast tasted terrible for us (much too sour and too bitter). We learned that coffee from lower altitudes with a nuttier, chocolatey taste is better suited for espresso roasting. The campsite is a large meadow, 25 qpp, cold, clean showers and toilet. Water connection available. The street fits all types of rigs.

This is my second stay here. Really a great place to stay. Nice facility, great coffee and food and friendly staff. Tour is great too. I had done the zipline last time. The cost is still 25Q for overnight stay. It's rainy season in Guatemala. There are not many tourists here.

Report Check-In

Very nice and quiet place to spend the night. We did the coffee tour (Q75pp) on the morning. Lots of interesting information and good coffee. Hot shower and toilet accessible. Camping was Q25pp

Report Check-In

Stayed Thursday and Friday night. It was quiet and peaceful other than us during the day when we needed to use our generator 😅. Space for 2-3 campers. Amazing coffee at the cafe 😋 Best cappuccino I’ve had outside of Italy. The tour was very nice and informative as well, offered in Spanish and English, 75q/pp I think. Expensive but well worth it. Bathrooms/showers were clean. Showers drained well with a hot water setting. The road through town is a little tight but we made it with our 25 ft truck camper.

Report Check-In

We did the tour, enjoyed a good coffee and had a peaceful quiet night. Nice and clean bathrooms.

Very friendly owners and locals around.

There were some dogs as well, one of them was protective - maybe watch your dog when you are there!

Best camping place we ever been during our whole trip!! The route is now finished and easy to drive. We were alone at the finca, and the tour (lot of things to learn and incredible coffee). They've got clean and fully renewed bathrooms (clean toilets, and hot shower). Great cafeteria, and the staff is super nice.
After 3 noisy days in cobán it was great to spend some times here.
+ only 25q/person

Report Check-In

If you like coffee, the tour is a must. When you see how much work went into it, you enjoy it even more. The coffee is definitely the best I've had so far. Camping still 25 Q pp, tour without zipline 75 Q pp. The people there are incredibly friendly and lovely. Highly recommended!

Report Check-In

amazing experience!!! the road is still under construction, which means that you can just go in one direction at a time. When you leave the coffee tour there is nobody who controlls it. We waited until somebody came from one direction and hang on to that car. If you turn left, there comes a pull out where you can turn the car if you have to go the other way.

Report Check-In

This place is a must to do if you love coffee! The people of the community are very friendly!! It was the best Coffe I drink in my life!!!

Hot shower, good wifi, clean bathroom. Be careful : The road is currently under construction, so it was really difficult and stressfull to go there with a American RV 24ft.

Nice place. It’s colder here. The last 2 km of road to get there was difficult, but that’s because we came across pavement work on the street. We paid 50 QTZ for 2 adults. Nothing for children. Grassy land more or less flat, but it’s still okay. Clean toilet with soap and toilet paper. Correct cold showers.

We made the coffee tour with the friendly Lisbeth who speaks Spanish, a little English and is learning French. The coffee at the end of the round is excellent. We made provisions.

Report Check-In

Still same price but we had hot shower!!! Quiet place at night and they are redoing the main road, still bumpy for now. Staffs are so nice there.

Report Check-In

A wonderful place, not only to spend the night. There are showers and toilet, dinner is available on request. Across from the office at the campsite we had wifi. We can only recommend the tour. Let you also tell you about the other work of the great cooperative.

Report Check-In

Good place to sleep, but you mainly come here for the coffee. The tour around the Finca is super good. We had an English speaking guide and learned a lot about there growing process. Really love that it is a locally owned coffee farm. And importantly the coffee is really delicious.

Report Check-In

25Q per person to sleep on the parking lot. There is wifi and toilets.
75Q per person to do the coffee tour. It is around 1h-1h30 and the tour is in English !
Nice to taste the coffee at the end.
As said before the road to arrive there is a bit bumpy but totally doable.

Spent two nights. Very friendly people. Quiet and clean.

Report Check-In

We stayed for the night, paid 50Q/ night for family and RV. Very quiet and safe. Clean toilet with tp. Cold shower. Ok for one night. Road a bit bumpy but we did it. We took the tour the next morning, 75Q per person 10 years and older. Very interesting. Our guide was a cooperator, very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We finished with degustation. We bought coffee but they did not force us at all. Our 3 kids did the zipline tour, 75Q pp and really liked it. For all that, it took us 4 hours. We enjoyed it very much.

Report Check-In

You get to camp behind the main office on a grassy area surrounded by coffee plants. Clean bathrooms and (cold) shower available. Wifi at the tasting area and probably if you park right behind the main office. Paid 25Q per person to camp and 75Q per person for the tour. Staff was very nice. Tour was interesting but unfortunately did not get to see the actual roasting process...

Report Check-In

We stayed here for several nights and can recommend it. They have wifi in the covered eating areas and in the cafe. The showers are cold and they have flush toilets with seats. It cost us 50 Q for two people and a dog. The dogs that hang around the property are in very rough shape. Definitely share your water and dog food if you have some. The dogs fight for the food scraps that are thrown away here. Otherwise it was good.

Report Check-In

We only made the coffee tour, which was very interesting. Was concentrating on the plantation and growing the plants.
Also tge zip line circuit was great for our 6 year old.
We asked for the camping, which is still 25Q per person. We would have stayed the night, if we had the camper with us.
Very nice and friendly people.

Report Check-In

Upon arrival we asked how much camping was and the lady said $100Q I said that I thought it was $25 pp and she said the price went up. I told her I had to tell my husband and she said to wait while she asked someone. She came back and said just for us she could do $25pp. I understand inflation, but to double the price is a stretch. The bathrooms were clean, but the shower was out of service.

Report Check-In

We arrived here on the afternoon and were welcomed warmly and directed straight to the camping spot. We were planning to do the coffee tour the next day. However, when we went to the cashier to pay we overhead the guy who showed us where to park telling the lady to ask us for 100Q for camping which she promptly did. She didn't react much when we told here that it was Q50 for two just a few month ago and insisted that it would be Q100 per car. We decided to leave and only then they ran after ask to tell us it was all a misunderstanding and it would be Q25 per person. We don't like this behavior so we went to the Orquígonia instead and were treated much more honest there. Up to you if you want to support this "hustling" on the back of the few tourists that come visiting right now or not.

Report Check-In

Really nice place to spend the night for Q25 per person. Clean bathroom and cold shower. Quiet and next to the coffee plantation. Ideal if you have a dog. We took the tour for Q75 and was really good.

Report Check-In

The members of the cooperative are very friendly. We were going to arrive after 6pm so I called them to see if we could still camp there. They said yes and also told me that they close at 6pm but there are usually people around until 9pm. 5524 1831. Walter greeted us just after 7pm and showed us where to park, the restrooms, shower and outdoor sink for washing dishes, etc. All facilities were clean. The shower is still just cold water. Camping Q50 for a couple + small dog sleeping in our truck. Coffee tour now Q75pp, including an artisanal method coffee (Chemex, V60, Aeropress, etc.) or fruit licuado after. Claudia was my tour guide and very friendly and informative. Artisanal method coffee in the cafe Q15 per portion, which is about 2 cups. No Claro data service, but able to make calls. Photos added.

Report Check-In

Arrived after dark, met by Walter who was super lovely and gave us our own key to the bathrooms with hot showers (first one in a while…) So unbelievably friendly!

Camped here for 25q pp. Quiet. Had the place to ourselves.  Clean bathrooms!

Downpour of rain in the morning so it was suggested to us to not do the tour. We wanted to support so bought a couple of bags of ground coffee instead after they gave us two deliscious complimentary espressos!

They later offered a “smaller tour” when the rain settled a little. Stated “the normal tour is 75q, but we will give it to you for 50q each”. We politely declined as we had just splurged on their coffee thinkibg we were unable to do the tour and had read in iOverlander people were receiving the tour for 60q. They seemed disappointed/frustrated at this, we hadn't met to mislead them!
Overall, a lovely place!

as described. This could be changed to a estsblished campground, since it seems to be very common by now to Camp there.

Lovely people, great informative coffee tour fabulous, quiet and clean place to camp. They arranged for us to have a private tour the next day.

Report Check-In

nice location, bit it a bumpy road in. the road North around the airport was much better. tour was 60Q pp and camping 25Q pp. clean toilet and shower, but electric hot water shower head wasn't working, so only cold showers!

Report Check-In

The most welcoming place we've stayed! They invited us in for coffee and chat for an hour, felt like visiting old friends. Kept saying things like they were "honored" to have us, when we'd thank them for their hospitality. Opened up a room for us to have hot showers. In the evening walked us down to see the coop workers selling their coffee and had us walk up on the machines. Morning they delivered coffee to our van in the rain! Then we did the tour later, super interesting history and community.

Report Check-In

totally awesome spot. staff and kids we're all super friendly. we took the tour which we all (2 adults and 2 kids) found great. the coffee was tasty and the guide was very happy to practice his English.

our kids were invited to participate in the schools sports day which was amazing.

after that they did the zipline tour for a mere 40Q

we paid 50Q to camp (25pp kids free). 60pp for tour (kids free again after some convincing)

super quiet. wonderland for a dog :)

Highly recommended!

Report Check-In

Well this place was wonderful! Normally we don't pay for tours just because we don't enjoy commercialism that doesn't benefit the local populous , but this cooperative is all about using the money to help each other and the coffee plantation. It's locally owned and staffed by people who live here which gives you a great sense of how vested they are in the process. We also took our dog on the walking tour and had no issues!

A really nice coffee finca cooperativa, well worth to visit and to stay for a night or more. With support of the Swiss NGO HELVETAS!

Report Check-In

Very nice cooperative that deserves our time and money. We had a great tour (in spanish) by a member of the community. Part of the money earned by the cooperative goes to social programs.
Nice place to camp and very quiet.

Report Check-In

Super friendly. Could camp on nice grassy area over night (25q/p). Very quiet and cool. Tour was excellent and in english (tell them in advance).

Report Check-In

60Q per person for the coffee tour, add another 60Q if you want to do the zip line (we didn't). Tour was lovely and very informative, in Spanish, didn't ask if they had an English speaker. Coffee at the end was very tasty. We arrived in the dark and the guys at the office were friendly and showed us the bathrooms (hot water!) and a place to park for the night, no one charged us for camping. Felt very safe, beautiful area and there's a light /security guy around. 4x4 not required, just a little steep in some parts.

Report Check-In

nice place to stay overnight. still 50Q per vehicle. toilets and shower (just no water in the shower when we were there, but they brought us a bucket with water :)). lots of kids in the morning and evening.

Report Check-In

5 minute drive from internet free McDees, a bit of a rough road for the last couple of kms but worth it. Had the place to myself. They have a large covered room (open air with electricity and lights) Showers and banos with the typical exterior dish washing area. 25Q for the night and 70Q for the tour. Ilb of coffee is 40Q. A couple of roosters in the morning for quiet as a mouse for the rest of it.

Report Check-In

This is a coffee plantation run by a local cooperative. We camped by the comedor area for 25 Quetzales per person, per night. Clean restrooms and cold showers available. There are about 250 to 300 students that are being trained on the process of cultivating and harvesting coffee. Be aware that these students are between 15 to 25 years old and many of them live in very remote areas so when we arrived we were their subject of pictures and entertainment during the entire time we were there. It was interesting having such a large crowd around us. We talked and shared with them for couple of days. We also took a tour around the plantation and learned about the coffee growing and harvesting process. The tour was 60 Quetzales per person and worth the price.

Report Check-In

Beautiful setting, surrounded by the mountains, the pine forest and coffee plantation.we stayed here after our coffee tour. close to coban and a more economical option than some of the other options. 50q for 2 people in a vw.

We also took a tour of the farm for 120Q(2 people, 1 dog). Our Tour Guide spoke good English, and we really enjoyed the experience. Clean bathrooms with flush toilets. If you love coffee, a must see/do.
