For those driving a Chilean car going to Peru: if you don't have your padron yet, print the appostilezed anotaciones document. find it on registro civil Chile website. it is a bit of a hassle to print but it is worth gold! you can enter Peru (at least from Bolivia, Copacabana crossing where we crossed) without any problems. somewhere in between the payment options you can select PayPal. we could not find a way to pay directly by credit card but PayPal works!

We passed here when the other borders were closed due to protests.
Very easy. Don’t forget to stop at migration in the village before coming here. Nothing to pay.
Then to go to Bolivia don’t take the road google maps tells you! Go back to Mililaya to take main road, follow maps me.

Only border that has not been burned in the Titikaka area. Desaguadero and Copacabana are not an option. The road to Tilali was not blocked but I guess it can change pretty fast. Once you get to migration, everything is smooth and easy. No fees to exit Peru or enter Bolivia. Just follow the main dirt road to Puerto Acosta and do the Bolivian paperwork there. Be ready with cash and gas as there is nothing until Achacachi

After immigration in town, we got our tip here. It took longer than normal, because the system was down. The guy was very friendly and let us fill our water jerrycans.

Good luck!

Report Check-In

If coming from Bolivia you should first do the migration further in to town (on square) and then come back for aduana. We had to wait a long time because the system was down (they had to call an other post so the others could fill in our details in the system, connection was very bad). But really nice people here, could also charge my phone.
