Namibia
Great location with stunning views. The wind can be quite harsh but there are some better sheltered sites. The renovations are done and the campground is in good condition. The electrical points don't all work but are generally functional. Management are trying to better things and are concerned about campers.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
We booked here and arrived to pumping wind so decided to stay at a guesthouse instead. I wouldn't book in advance again. I would go and check conditions first. If the wind isn't too bad, it's a spectacular location and could be a very special stop.
Report Check-InBeautiful spot with a tragic history. camping facilities are very clean and also modern. 24 hour security
Report Check-InFrom 11/23 300 pppn. Quite steep. Abolutions good. Very windy as everywhere there.
Report Check-InJust FYI for everyone staying here. The location of the campsite used to be a German concentration camp / death camp where thousands of Herero and other tribal groups were worked to death and exterminated.
I’m not saying don’t stay here but just want people to be aware if they do as I think it’s a shame that many people staying here aren’t aware of Shark islands dark history!
Report Check-InCampsite as previously described. Owned by NWR. Titus was friendly and welcoming. We fortunately had a mild breeze. Shower super hot. Hope NWR keep up the maintenance as all was better than expected. We can recommend this campsite. Pd N$450.00 for the site.
Report Check-InEpic campsite right on the ocean, power toilets shower all great, good service and drinking water, but super expensive 275pp per night
Report Check-InAll as said before.
It is is really windy think about not staying here. No place gives you a wind protected place.
But if you are here, the view is really great. And they have very good water
Price we paid is 270 N$ pppn
Report Check-InAmazing Views, clean restrooms and shower's.
But in the morning 6.00 the cleaner's and guard are making lots of noses, and not respecting privacy ...
we paid 300 for 2 person...cash
Amazing campsite right on the ocean. Immaculate ablutions. Very friendly and helpful management. Luckily we are here in mild to no wind.
Report Check-InVery windy campground at the end of Shark Island. Only some places with shade. The best sanitary facilities since our start in Cape Town. We stayed for one day and would come again.
Report Check-InGreat place in spite of the wind. Stunning view. Good ablutions. Exceptional contact with staff. Ask him for laundry. Everything comes back washed and ironed within the day.
Report Check-Inprice pppn is 268. lovely hot showers and friendly staff. manager drove down to kolmanskop because they made an error in my favor
Report Check-InHaving stayed here twice before, we were pleasantly surprised to be camping here again. The campgrounds are in a great state but for the electric points seem.mostly fine and serve a purpose. The ablutions are excellent. We were visited by the Manager each day to see if all is well. There was a gate guard on duty and roving security. Overall, totally enjoyed our stay.
Report Check-InCamp is open!
Very spacious area with open spaces (windy) and also nice little hidden/protected places.
The Ablutions are brand new and in perfect condition. Extra room for laundry, drying room and kitchen with 3 working spaces. The poeer plugs are not all working and some are in very bad condition. Check that before you choose your campsite. This is typically NWR.
Overall a recommendation.
Camp is still being renovated. However, I was there today and some of the camp sites are already finished and open. You can check in here again :-)
Report Check-InThe campsite is reopen now. All ablutions are new and very clean. We could enter for free during the day but in the evening the security guard request 250 $N pppn so we won't stay for the night. Don't know if it's the real price as we don't go to the NWR office just before the campsite gate. Second day we could have hot showers for N$10 by adult.
Report Check-InThe Campground ist closed! Nobody knows when it will open again and it's completly run down! Needs big renovation! A pity for this unique and nice location although always very windy!
Report Check-InLovely campsite with most amenities, bathrooms are run down and could do with some renovation. It is EXTREMELY windy so choose your spot carefully!
Report Check-InGreat location, with lots of potential, just a pity run by NWR! Uncared for & dated.
Report Check-InGreat spot which has beautiful views of the harbour that connects and protecta this little outcrop from the rough Atlantic ocean. It is windy and it is cold; however, you can stay in the old and rustic lighthouse, which is highly recommended.
Report Check-InThe prince is now 250 pp fare too much. You get a nice room at Kairo die 400 pp. Very windy and run down NWR Style!
Report Check-InPrice is 500,- for two of us as you can see at the website (nwr.com.na). So we paid it. Much too expensive!! Nice site but ablutions are in bad conditions and almost all sites are not protected from wind!
Report Check-InWent and had a look but left again, it was extremely windy, apparently even by Luderitz standards
Report Check-InRun down site, very very windy and cold month Aug
Report Check-InPaid 340 NAD for 2 persons with car and tent; very windy; ablutions and kitchen looked a bit old, security around 24/7
Report Check-InI just entered to have a look around. There was a guy looking like the groundskeeper that was insisting me to charge me 10 rands for entering. He was a bit aggressive. Almost told him to feck off. I’d stay away.
Report Check-InN$170 pp per night!
Beautiful spot but silly expensive, basic toilets and showers but beautiful view.
Nice place Great view to harbour and town and to the Atlantic. bit windy. sandy sites. good absolutions😉 electricity everywhere 24h security.1,7 km to the center of the town.
Report Check-In150 pppn : too expensive when you can find a double room for 300/350 in the city! amazing view but we didn t stay because of the wind!
Report Check-InLocation is awesome, right at the sea with great views on the harbour and the sea of course. Ablutions need serious maintenance. 136N$ pppn. Very cold and windy!!! Wouldn't want to stay here more then 1 night. Not really a need for too because Luderitz is very small and (just in the weekends?) extremely boring. Most restaurants close all weekend! But Ritzi's is open and serves great meals. Note that Ritzi's has moved from the Waterfront to near the church.
Report Check-InAmazing Campsite - we stayed there for 3 nights, walking to the center of the Town is possilble not so far .... and --- we had NO WIND... it was absolutely fine there... the town is a little bit boring and for me a touch to german... ( i am german ) but its ok.
Report Check-Innice site but extremely windy! showers and toilets a bit shabby but still clean. taps and electricity at the sites
Report Check-InBeautiful campsite with water and electricity on site. Downside: ablution blocks are pretty run down and need to be refurbished.
Report Check-InPrices have gone up, 136 N$ per person per night. Amazing scenery!
Report Check-InSome 20 sites on sand between rocks on peninsula. Usually very windy. Great views over bay and sea. Reasonably maintained. Operated by NWR
NAD 220 (2 adults, camper)
Beautifully located at the end of a peninsula in Lüderitz, braai stands, electricity, good ablutions but can get very windy, 200N$/night (13,90€) for two people
Report Check-InUsually notoriously windy, but we enjoyed calm nights here. Beautiful spot right by the ocean & clean ablutions with hot water (N$100pp)
