Nice place. We spent the night in tent in the woods. There is black sticky resina falling from the trees so take care. Also some big biting bugs (idk the English term, bigger than a fly and they bite you (not so hard but still annoying)
workers where here most of the day but left at night. Very quiet

Report Check-In

Very nice place to stay after hours of driving in the windy dessert. Canyon with river and some plants and trees. Nicely hidden.

Quiet, safe and nice place to spend the night. A green place in the desert. We slept just above because there were sandflies in the wood. Cell reception decent, allow you to make calls and write message, but don't expect to stream a movie. we recommand.

Not sure if Parque del Loa is still managed by Conaf (there's an old sign when you're northbound on Ruta 5), but for a large part the place is pretty run down, full of litter and overgrown. Fortunately, there are still some good spots.

The whole area is fairly large. When you arrive in the canyon, there's a flat and mainly open area that offers good spots for any type of vehicle, including big rigs. A few trees also provide some shaded places. This is where we decided to stay for the night.

You can also choose to go around the pump building (which makes some noise, but not too terrible). There is a wooded area that would've been really nice, if it weren't for the massive amounts of garbage, empty bottles, glass etc. Low vehicles could make it all the way to the far end, where it opens up again. A little less rubbish here, but at the very end there appears to be a grave (?). Also, be careful of the huges holes in the ground. Finally, if you head right immediately after the building, you can camp close to the water edge and the footbridge to the other side of the water.

We had a car with some workers come by in the evening, which left after 30 mins or so. Also about 3 cars with locals that same evening and morning. No one bothered us, and we were the only ones staying overnight.

Indeed. Lovely spot. But it is on the east side of the road nr 5. Location is correct.

Report Check-In

Entrance from Road 5 on the west. Doable for any car/any size
There is a water pump house in the canyon that was visited a couple of times during the evening/morning by workers. Friendly. Advised us of possible water rising over the night.
Alone by dark. Quiet. A few locals in the morning. Overall, lovely campspot!
