...except some vicuñas.
100 to 150 meters from the road on a stone (lava) field. Bit windy but not too bad. With a starlit night the temperature dropped down to 4°C.
Clear view in the late afternoon and in the morning, amazing!
Depends on the spot you choose you might see the summit of Carihuairazo as well. If not walk uphill and you'll see the entire volcano (if clouds allow).

Really view volcano from this point is beautiful. The place is a bit exposed, but it is worth. The entrance is a little lost, but is achieved find (care because it is a bit steep and road release)
Realmente la vista al volcán desde este punto es hermosa. El lugar es un poco expuesto, pero vale la pena. La entrada está un poco perdida, pero se logra encontrar (cuidado porque está un poco empinado y con tierra suelta)
Report Check-InThere are many places to pull off and tuck in for the night. Look around a bit and determine what feels accessible and secure. Some road noise. Amazing and everchanging views. Hikes from here to hilltop, rocks. See wild vicuñas. Go a little further down the road and turn to the hot springs.
Report Check-InIndeed beautiful spot to camp, however the entry from the road was too hard to get into, we almost got stuck. We slept a bit further at the other IO spot, also beautiful but on the other side of the road.
Report Check-In...except some vicuñas.
