Description

Note - no facilities available out of season
Although this campsite was $35.00/night, it was beautiful. At that price (with no electricity at the sites) some would say it was overpriced, but you are in the heart of the Redwood forest! It was quiet, and so serene. There are warm showers ($0.50/5 min) and running water in the washrooms. The water from the taps along the campsite loops was drinkable as well. There is a short nature walk that takes you through the Redwood glades and then along the bank of the Smith River. The River also has a day-use area and beach that was pretty cool as well. The water is crystal clear, and we spent some time at the Day-use area swimming once we had reached the noon check-out time. The sneaky idea is to make sure you do not pass through the park exit before going to the day use. The Campground also sells firewood and has great pits for mingling with your neighbors after dark.

This place is awesome. Not much for cell signal could get one bar LTE Verizon in some places and two bars with my booster.

Showers are great $1 for four mins.

Large spaces and most rigs will fit and there is a dump station. Spots 60-55 right by the river and dock space.

They have WiFi now in two places, at the check in station at the entrance to the campground, and at the main visitor center across the highway. Speeds are about 10Mbps down, 3 up. You need a password for the visitor entrance WiFi , but they have it posted inside. No password needed for the WiFi at the campground entrance. Nice campground overall, we enjoyed our stay here for many nights.

One of my favorite places to stay. $35, but they accept federal passes. I’ve used mine in the past. Didn’t this time because I haven’t bought a parks pass...
Showers are 50c to start (2min), $3(12min) max. Uhm, I was so sad to have wasted $1 on the coldest “hot” shower ever. I would have preferred to spend any amount and stay DRY and warm!! The motion light also went off as I was getting dressed. It was dark last night so that was annoying. There is a water spigot. No signs for not potable, so fingers crossed! There is a camp host. And there seems to be plenty of spots, some close to the river but many aren’t. Worth a visit!

Beautiful, quiet campground nestled amongst Redwood trees along the river. I came on a Sunday night and it was not busy. $35 a night (tent site), running water and paid hot showers. Looks like limited spaces available for bigger rigs but plenty for vans and tent campers. A lot of trails nearby to hike along the river or through the redwoods. Poor cell reception, Verizon had 1 bar LTE.

Best deal for showers. (We renegade camped, and used various campgrounds to clean up.)

Nice, clean, secluded sites. Easy walk to the riverbank. Decent bathrooms and showers. 25 cents per minute for showers. Some sites (but not ours) have huge redwood trees in them.

Yes the price is a bit steep but the showers are nice and it’s a beautiful location! I was amazed by all the redwoods. It wasn’t so bad when we used our annual pass and got 1/2 off. I would stay here again!

Fantastic place, right in the middle of giant redwood trees. Stayed two nights.

price is steep but the sites are very nice. While close together, the large redwoods give you plenty of privacy.

We totally screwed our budget on this. $35 and in December get NOTHiNG but a site. No bathrooms open no showers most of the campground is closed. Gorgeous, if confusing, campground on a turquoise river surrounded by redwoods, it is probably great in season but off season stear clear! If we hadn't been the end of a long day we would have moved on.

After spending time on the road guerilla camping, we decided to treat ourselves to some quiet time in the gorgeous Redwood forest. There are a couple different state parks, but we chose this one because it is right smack dab in dense forest. We had our camper van, but ended up pitching our tent that night to sleep under the majestic giants. Almost worth the $35.00 admission.
