Absolutely, just like describe. We've camped in a lot of places and this spot is our favorite! The breath taking views over the canyon and Lake Powell.

There are plenty of great spots, so don't think that because it might be busy you won't have a campsite.

High clearance is a must unless you don't mind scraping. We wouldn't be doing this trail if heavy rain was expected. 2wd will make it...but be prepared to choose your lines carefully.

Amazing views, spent the nigh. Got lucky with no wind and fairly clear skies. Last 2 miles were a bit rough but had no problem in our stock Tacoma. Aired down for a more comfortable ride. Other than one other group, whole area to ourselves overlooking Gunsight Bay.

Definitely 4x4 with oversized tires. We made it in our lifted Sprinter but it was slow and most everything was on the floor….lol
Worth the trip for sure. Just go slow and steady.

As described. Nothing has changed. 4WD and high clearance is very helpful. We are here with a Landcruiser. Saw Toyota Forerunner and one low clearance car! A few rocky parts on the last 5 miles. 5 cars over night on Friday. Saw no waste.

No 4x4 necessary, just high clearance. We were more than fine in our 2wd Vanagon. When wet the road in would be horrible clay the whole way - probably too much even for any 4x4 rig.

Unfortunately people aren’t packing out their toilet paper and leave it to blow around in the wind. PLEASE PACK EVERYTHING OUT WITH YOU. Sorry for the caps, but it’s not cool that people ruin places like this with their poo...

The drive in is long and dusty. once you get 1mile from the site the road becomes more challenging. out 2020 Rav 4 could not clear the rock to climb the last mile. The views are something special. When we arrived in the evening the wind was wicked gusting upwards of 50mph, and not possible for us to use our rooftop tent comfortably. There is very little to block the wind, including 0 trees for shelter or fire wood. If you camp, bring what you need, you are FAR AWAY from help. Gas is nearly 1hour away. We loved every second on the ridge, I wanted to stay the night but it was not possible with the wind. Be aware of weather because the slightest rain would make this drive nearly impossible for many vehicles.

Gorgeous views, especially at sunset. Very few people. the last mile is all rock crawling, will need a high clearance vehicle with 4Low.

Report Check-In

Spectacular views well worth the drive. Good for cooking out or staying the night. Popular spot amongst locals.

Check the wind forecast.. Beautiful views, but the wind was pretty terrible..

Very nice campsite right on the canyon rim. Road to it was very washboard and rough with the last couple of miles requiring high clearance.

Alstrom Point is absolutely stunning! Many spots to camp with incredible view of Lake Powell ! 4wd and high clearance is recommended!

Report Check-In

Nice informal campsite with view on the Lake Powell.
We stopped 3 km before the Alstom point with a pick-up and slider because of the rocky road. Some 4x4 went at the end of the dirt road.
No amenities.
