Description

Provincial Park campground: the gate is open in off season and you can stay for free w/o any services. This year (2017) until 28. April. The host Jack is a very friendly guy. A lot of train traffic on both sides of the river! We did not hear anything at night. Desert, so no bears arround. From May to September you can have electricity and water but for a fee, of course.

Latest Check-Ins

Stayed here three nights for free in the off season. No electric or water but there are picnic tables, fire pits, pit toilets, and garbage bins. Cool views of the nearby hills and river but very active train tracks on both sides of the campground, that seem to alternate trains pretty consistently. Definitely noisy. No cell service but open skies for starlink in some spots. There were probably 5-7 vehicles a night.

Report Check-In

Beautiful desert location. Yes, there are trains passing occasionally but its otherwise quiet and peaceful, like a little desert oasis. Access to fishing right on the Thompson River.

Report Check-In

Beautiful campground directly at the river. 23 CAD for our campervan, optional +5 CAD for electricity. Very noisy train every 30-45 minutes, even late in the evening and early morning. No showers, only two toilets for the whole campground. Bring moscito spray.

Report Check-In

Arrived around 5pm and found 12 or more campers. Lots of room and we choose a river front lot. We took advantage of water and electricity for $28Can. Had eagles nesting across the river. Nice host couple and we’ll keep up.

Report Check-In

$23 per night + $5 for power/water.
No showers available and only pit toilets.
Can book on the BC parks website or turn up. Very busy in summer.
Very hot as in desert country.
River was high and brown when we cam due to the flooding up north.
Stayed for 3 nights at site 14
Trains are running all the tine from both sides of the camp. We didn’t find it too bad, but if you were a light sleeper it would not be enjoyable.
Lots of prickly pear cactus :)
Nice campground.

Trains, trains and more trains. if you have a little boy that loves trains this is the place for him! if you would like to sleep this is not for you! you can get cell connection up near the tracks, but park further away if you want to sleep. Park is open and free in Oct.

Report Check-In

A nice place to stop at, but have to live with the trains running at night.

Report Check-In

No showers available. and a lot of train traffic as there are train tracks on both sides of the campsite.

Report Check-In

Camping here March 7, outhouse open, no water, no power this early in the season, minus 5 Celsius.

Report Check-In

Noisy night between rail trucks. But still okay for one night! It was free!

Report Check-In

Nice place on the river, only bad thing is trains running both sides of river all day and night.

Report Check-In

Great place. Clean pit toilets. Hot showers that cost 1 loonie for 3 minutes. Excellent river to fly fish in as well

Hi there
We’re hosting here at Juniper for summer 2019
Sites all have water & power. Camping fee for all sites is $23 & $5.00 more ($28.00) if you want to use power. Sani dump $5.00 at entrance to park. Shower is $1 coin for 3 minutes.
People do swim in the river when the level is down in the summer - there is a lagoon that forms.
Juniper is great for fishing too - world class rainbow trout!

Report Check-In

Well kept campground with good sized sites and easy access.
Some sites have 30 Amp power and water but both are turned off in October.
Fire pits and tables at all sites.

Railway tracks on both sides so it's going to be a noisy night.

Super clean place! $23 CDN cash only which I think is price for types. Super hot , no coverage but I guess it’s common for a sudden thunderstorm to hit which brought some clouded skies for us. Nice hosts. Super noisy and basically a parking lot. No swimming in near river. Rattlesnakes in nearby field/ trail area. Showers $2 for 3 minutes.

Report Check-In

Amazing campsite right by the river. Free for off season. The only negative point is that you have trains going by each side of the river every 30 minutes or so. Earplugs might be handy... except that it is a great spot !!
