Latest Check-Ins

Entry 15 soles (we are adults, foreigners). Tickets bought in the ticket office/info center at the football field, ticket control at the entry of the trail. Possibility to hire a horse which takes you a little bit further than halfway. Afterwards everyone has to walk. Easy trail, a lot of ups and downs, some sugarcane plants on the way. Amazing forest and waterfall views!

Report Check-In

amazing waterfalls! we asked around and locals said we could camp in tents on the grass next to the ticket office, just not on the football pitch. friendly people and friendly dogs, good night's sleep.

Report Check-In

Round trip to the bottom of the waterfall is 15km/700m vertical and about 1:45/2:00 go/return with very leisurely walk and photos. It is worth it to go to the end of the trail, there is an awesome view from the last terrace 100m before the water drop without getting wet.
It is not muddy, most of the trail is concrete stairs and walkways, few sandy/rocky spots that are slippery when wet.

Camping in the center of the village is not slowed, no problem on the parking lot at the entrance.

Report Check-In

Entry now 20 soles. No dogs allowed. You can not park here, everybody has to park at the gravel parking when you drive in.

Report Check-In

Ticket lady said to park here, but the ‘horse’ guy said no. Took us to the ‘grass field’ to park. (In iOverlander). Probably best just to head to grass field.

Half an hour dirt road to get to town. the plaza does seem quiet for the night, but no privacy as you are surrounded by houses and there's a fair amount of movement and people walling by for a small town even at night. The toilets are closed during the night (we arrived at 7pm and it had been closed already), not currently open 24/7 as stated bellow. Locals say you need the leave the flat spot in the morning to give space to the horses.

Report Check-In

Very good spot, near the central square of the village and the entrance for the hike of the waterfall. Very quiet at night. people are nice. possibility of free "cold" toilets and showers by asking the association for the key.

Très bon spot, près de la place centrale du village et de l'entrée pour la rando de la cascade. Très calme la nuit. Les gens sont gentils. Possibilité de toilettes et douches "froides" gratuit en demandant la clé à l'association.

We just parked along the street as suggested by a local. Nobody parks in the nice gravel parking lot because "they need it for horses?". We only saw one horse, standing in the grass.. :)

The village was really welcoming and quiet and there are bathrooms available for free 24/7. We just parked right next to them.

We honestly might have stayed a couple days if we had had more time.

Got here mid afternoon, too late to do hike. Latest time is 2pm. You can but tickets for next day though. Horse ride to falls costs S30 or S40 return. Note: horses only take you to just past 3km mark then you walk the other 2 ish to base of falls. There is a great viewpoint right where you hand over your ticket so if clear, you don't need to hike. Cannot park on grass any longer. There is a small parking lot in front of Tourist Office but you can only park there overnight, gotta park on curbside during day. We ended up staying on the curb. It was Saturday so there was music from the hostel (we think) till around ten then it was quiet.

Report Check-In

Driving on grass not recommended to not turn it into a mud field, but there is a spot across the field next to “Centro Educativo Mixto”.
Sleepy town, amazing views, super cold shower. Loop hike possible, taking moto back up from the highway (S/.10).
No WiFi, only service Bitel & Claro.

Perfect sleeping spot on the grasfield in front of the ticket office. Only nice, friendly and helpfull people. Some dogs around at night. Public toilets and free cold showers. Super atmosphere around the central square, very nice for people traveling with children

Nothing peaceful about this lot. A large pack of dogs kept up growling and barking all night long. Which woke up the roosters who thought 2am was dawn. Dump trucks were grinding their way up the grade and were dumping gravel and other building materials until 11pm.

The tourist office didn't open at the scheduled time so we decided to climb up to Waterfall anyway but we were turned back because we didn't have a ticket. (I wanted a ticket; office didn't open up until late.) Then when did start climb, locals were burning trash and smoke obscured the views.

Only positive - free parking.

Report Check-In

Good place to stay considering the other options close by. Park/camp next to the tourist office near the grassy field. Very nice waterfall especially during the rainy season! 10 Soles per person to visit the waterfalls.

Report Check-In

Super friendly town with amazing views. According to the locals, 3rd longest waterfall in the world. 1st Angel's falls in Venezuela. The walk going is easier than coming up, there is 1.5km of going up the hill.. But if I could do it without dying so could you! Totally worth it, bring your swimsuits ! - we brought our dog and it was fine, took us 1hr 45 to get down and 2hr 15h to come up

Report Check-In

Nice peaceful night on the grass in front of the ticket office.
imho... the walk is worthwhile up to the corner just beyond the 2km marker. At that point the view is great and worth the walk, but we didn't really think it was worth the effort walking for another hour to the bottom.

parqueamos en frente de la oficina de tiquetes para entrar a la cascada, el valor de entrada es de 10 soles. personas muy amigables en el pueblo, tranquilo.
los baños publicos estaban bien y el de la oficina de turismo lo cierran de noche.

Report Check-In

Toilets in the tourist building are the best here but they close at night but there are still public toilets.

Report Check-In

Amazing waterfalls and trek absolutely worth coming here. I stayed at the Hospedaje next to El Colibri restaurant for 25S. Basic but clean and friendly. Was permitted to put my bike inside at night. There is another Hospedaje just PAST the ticket office that looked a bit more upmarket. Yellow building. Possible camping on their lawn but didn't ask.

Whilst having a beer at the Hostel in the square last night we met Ellen and her aunt (Mercedes) studying English. We had breakfast in the Hostel this morning and realised that Ellen is a guide. We don't usually take a guide but Ellen was a joy to be with and very informative and would thoroughly recommend her (30 sol). We took 6 hours to do the walk, which ended up as a joint English/Spanish lesson. Starting in bright sunshine and ending in torrential rain.. The public toilets are worse than grim, but the toilets in the ticket office are clean and were open at 07.15 (no shower).

Report Check-In

Arrived in heavy rain so explored all the options, 90sol in the hostel in the square, 40 to 80sol the hospedaje, just past the gate and 249sol! at Gocta Lodge. By the time we'd had a beer at the hostel in the square it had stopped raining so camped in front of the ticket office for free.

Restaurant El Colibri let us use their shower for free after buying beers there. Cold, but very clean. The public ones were awful.

Report Check-In

Still free. And still really friendly locals.

Report Check-In
