Description

The coordinates above indicate where a rocky piste turns from the main road to the parking spot
- it is possible to spend the night here and at some very beautiful spots further down. recommended to park close to or at the family houses so they can keep an eye on your car while hiking.
The coordinates of the cave: - 11.25863,13.892101.

There is a crossroad at the bottom of the hill coming down from the parking spot, the left path goes to the more accessible entry of the cave. the right path goes to a cool lookout to see the depth of entrance of the cave on the other side.
if it's rainy season, you cannot go fully inside the cave as the river is very full that goes through the cave. nevertheless very wonderful scenery and hike..well maintained from the locals.
Go in the morning to see the blue light beam. Beautiful scenery.

Latest Check-Ins

We drove down on a sunday afternoon, a group of boys ran after us the whole way. When we arrived at bottom they looked pretty interested at our rooftop boxes, we had a bad feeling to leave our car there and left. Sorry for them to run all the way down and walk back up without any benefit for them :D Should have gone early in the morning or parked the car on top and walk down

very cool hike. we parked our car on the left, in front of the house of a young, very friendly mother. across the street, her mother lives.
she immediately said yes for parking. we even stayed the night and gave her 1.000 for parking later in the evening and watermelon in the morning. she didn't expect it and was very happy and thankful.
it rained a lot the last days, so when we hiked down in the morning at 6am (to hike without the dozen of boys who wanted to accompany us the afternoon before), we enjoyed a wonderful hike and were able to see the beginning of the cave. though the river passing through was too strong to keep walking further inside. nevertheless a wonderful hike.
before going back up, we walked straight to the viewing point. the path is on mapy.cz. the locals even cut out the paths. it's impressive how deep it goes to entrance the cave.

the children are very friendly. we plaid memory with them in the afternoon and they all enjoyed it and were friendly. surely they asked for beer, football, shoes, alcohol, anything. basically they want to receive something and accepted eventually a no. and went their way and did not do anything to our car.

Report Check-In

A little bit of an unpleasant experience here. The group of children ran down the track with us and all stood around as we got out the car but didn’t say anything to us. We were being cautious and decided to lock up and walk to the edge and have a look about first. The group of kids obviously thought we’d started walking down to the caves. We were about to walk over to the main track when we noticed a couple of older boys (teenagers) walking around the car trying the doors. We went over to investigate and found 1 teenager had climbed up the ladder on to the back of the car and was working with 2 others who were trying to get into the back of our car / trying around the seals and to undo the locks. When I approached the oldest one on the car jumped off immediately and looked very guilty. We decided to leave and not go to the caves after this as it did not look like they were just playing to us.

We drove our Hilux Camper until the end of the track. Around 1.5 km. from main road. A cloud of children and "guides" followed and bullying us. After parking we started to walk down to the bottom of the gorge. "Guides" asked 5000 kw. p.p. (22 euro) to show us the cave. We did not accept. We keep on walking down to the bottom of the valley (very nice, steep and scenary foot path). When reaching the "gate" (4 old wooden posts), the "guides" ( 4 guides) block us to enter, unless paying 5000 kw. We turn back and continuos walking down until nearby river. Nice bath. Some locals walking around. Although we only could see the entrance of the cave, we enjoy the very beatiful promenade. Very hot at noon.

Very nice caves to see on the way! Good for stopover. You will find a sign on the main road that indicates where you have to turn. There is a point that you could not drive more, so you can let the car there and go down to the cave walking. The way to the caves is around 30 minutes on foot. You have to bring some lanterns and good shoes. We met some kids there that ask if they can show you the caves for some money that they give to the Soba ( the chief of the village).

Impressive place to visit! Bat poop smell is so heavy, but it worth it! Some kids around asked 500kwanzas to enter, but we didn’t give them anything. Bring water and go there in the early hours of the day, too hot later!!

Report Check-In

Nice scenery, after five minutes we were followed by six children that we could not get rid of.

The cave is indeed massive but we did not see any bats and it was a big dissapointment overall.

It is nothing more than a cave, if you've been to other massive and nice caves, don't go here.

Impressive Caves! We only met some Kids who were happy to show us around. You can cross the whole Cave from one Entrance to the other. Tons of Bats, Bat droppings, Stoneage-like Bugs and nasty rotten Bats with Worms make this Place a real Indiana Jones Experience! :) Bring Water, good Torch and proper Shoes. If you are afraid of Bat droppings, an Umbrella could be helpful.

Report Check-In

MASSIVE cave full of bats and stalactites. May be inaccessible in the rainy season. Parking area is not very flat for camping and has no shade.
